All i can say is Wow. This story was truly Captivating in every way. Love that Dagran actually stepped up and didn't cower when the moment was hard to bare.

I agree and I like that he did it HIS way. He didn't just just transform into a generic fantasy dwarf character and knock some sense into these people, no, he figured it out like a scholar and did it in a way grouchy, contrary old dwarves would understand.

The part about a parent not stealing the thunder of their kids success by letting them know they also did that was stellar

THAT was one of the best stories told from the realm of Azeroth... I had read it before and decided to listen to your narration of it and all it did was just solidify my view, i could go for a fully fleshed of book of their story, kudos for the narration and kudos the the author!

The way Moira described dwarf politics like making bread was so good. Such a fun character.

I think this is the best short story so far in terms of writing. Anduin's was best for plot, but the writing here is SHARP!
@jeoff5115 ай бұрын
writing here feels like a cringe 13 year olds diary

I agree with Anduin but as english is not my first language this was hardly enjoyable. If I had to read this myself, I wouldn't last first page probably... But this way it is alright Edit: After listening till the end, it was really nice. Only the beginning was so metaphor heavy...

This is well written. I love Moira and I feel it fitting that her son is an intellectual as challenging to her as she was for her father to figure out. To be fair, her father did not know about the marriage. Only that she was taken.

If Dagran took an wild hammer bride he would bind all three blood lines into one. We would have a Dwarven empire.
@GrokNZ4 ай бұрын
That would totally be a powe move moira would do. She can be ruthless when it calls for it, but she is intelligent to avoid a fight if it's not necessary. There is Stormcaller Mylra (though she is old enough to be his mother), also I couldnt see if she is directly part of Falstad's family line. There isn't a lot of named female wildhammer dwarves in game and even fewer that are directly related to Falstad.

It's cool how this follows up on Fault Lines and The Speaker short story comics. Yeah, she gets a brief apology from him after he awakens in Legion, but then Magni goes off on his own for like *10 more years.*

It was fun to hear Dagran put "Grumpy" and "Drunky" in their place. Muradin seems to get him, though. Hearing Moira tell the audience her story was also a nice touch.

Thank you for reading this. Ms. Valente did a really good job. At the beginning, I was confused, however, after the introduction of Moira, I was caught into the telling of Dagran. Great stuff.

Haven't listened yet, and been off WoW for the better part of a decade. But like Nobbel, and like the author, and like having something to listen to while working graveyard shift, so let's have a listen.

I really enjoyed this story. We've only seen one glimpse of Dagran in the story where Thalyssra and Lorthemar got married and even then it was just Magni pointing him out to Wrathion. I'm eager to see more of this character because he's different than pretty much any dwarf I've seen in WoW and I'm eager to see what kind of leader he will become.

Something about Dagran's bookish but also determined manner just reminded me of Ben Affleck's character in "The Accountant" movie. An autistic accountant who is a genius but has his flaws. I don't know if Dagran truly is thwt or not. But i just couldn't help but feel like that was a similarity.

I think Dagran made this shield! I say this because of the crown of the queen and the hammer of building in the upper corner of the shield. I love his mind and the way it works, so intrigued to see where this is going. 🙂

While right now (with only this short story aviable) Dagran feels like a Gary Stu, I really like the fact that he doesn't feel like a part of his heritage. He is not a Dark Iron nor a Bronzebeard, he feels much more like the next Anvilmar. I usually play a Wildhammer Shaman, but I wouldn't mind calling him my faction leader.

There's sure a place for pretty writing and immersive descriptions, but I think this story overdoes these a bit. It's harder to convey vibes and complex concepts and character in short, concise terms, than to write long paragraphs about them. (The whole "If I had more time, I would've written a shorter letter" comes to mind.) What's gained in how 'pretty,' flowery and verbose this is tends to get lost in how heavy it is to read through, IMO. I guess it's a matter of personal preference and style, I'm not saying this is poorly written, far from it, but I feel like the others had a 'smart simplicity' to their narration that is just completely missing in this one. It felt so much longer than the other ones, not in a good way. PS: Great narration as usual, thanks for making these, Nobbel!

Nice story, though I feel there is hard space for Moira this expac :/
I liked it except the point where Moira chalked up all criticism as "grr that's just what old men wrote in history books" like no, you kicking all non-dwarves out of Ironforge is recent events. You just fucked up, at least own it instead of blaming it on misogyny which isn't even noted before for dwarves to my knowledge...
