As a Romanian I would like to confirm that the term scholomance is in reference to a school of black magic in Transylvania which was supposedly ran by the devil (yes, transilvania with Dracula and vampires). The term scholomance may or may not be a Romanian word , but its surely derived from Şolomanţâ (Solomonariu), as in a school for solomonar which is a sort of Gandalf in Romanian folklore.. its a wizard. The Şolomanţâ (scholomance) is said to have been near Romanian city Sibiu (European capital of culture in our modern times)

@@wolfbatson7668 good question. the god you were referring to is Zalmoxis, commonly Zal or Sal. the solomonar which i mentioned was commonly referred to as salman (sal-man), so there is this connection between the dacian deity and these wizards. also in what concerns etymology - this is why the solomonar have nothing to do with king solomon, as all of this part of dacian history predates Solomon

The tale of the plague is so heart-wrenching, This story, that of Pamela Redpath, the Mograines . Wonder if this could have been avoided if King Menathil would have heeded Medievh's Warning? If i had an option id rather die like the Kaldorei empire fighting demons than being subverted, deceived and decimated, then raised to fight all they had lived for like the Human Kingdoms .

Hey Nobbel, in the lore Kel'Thuzard's phylactery was never actually destroyed right? In Vanilla It was turned in for a quest but not actually destroyed right then in Wrath we just forgot about it? Well, if so since Arthas never brought him back, just think it could mean later on since Bolvar is the Lich King now, he might find it and bring him back and as we are currently uh.. "Neutral" with him we might actually get to talk to Kel or something and get some interactions, or maybe at least the Deathknights will?

Thank you so much for this video! I'm mostly a hearthstone fan. Our upcoming expansion is called Scholomance Academy. And I want to learn more about the lore as soon as I finished watching the announcement trailer. Coming in with almost zero knowledge aside from Kel'thuzad was the headmasters, I'm really fascinated by this lore. Keep up the good work!

I did old Scholo before the questlines were removed, but I destroyed the items that made you able to see the ghosts and turn Raz into a human. They probably no longer work (the latter item certainly wouldn't) but they would have been nice mementos. Thanks for reminding me why I love Scholomance, Nobbel! Great video - the nostalgia is real

When i got my first PC, the first thing i did was Scholomance and i was so shocked how cool it is to play WoW at your own house. It was all about internet caffees back in the day, until that moment at least. P.s. Anyone remember the paladin mount quest? Having to kill the DK in the end? Epic stuff! 5 Paladin party ftw

very well done video - congrats! If I remember correctly, in the old version, one was able to talk to the dead there back then when you were dead (not sure if I had done a quest before). It was really cool and I remember running around there dead for some time trying to discover other stuff.

I miss classic Scholomance so much! And also classic Shadowfang Keep, and classic Stratholme! Those three, along with Karazhan, were my favorites! I love the Scooby Doo type of spooky aesthetic! Classic Scarlet Monastery was also among my favorites! I freaking hate that they changed them to such simplified forms! I mean come on! The lore alone makes them places that should hold some level of time consuming challenge!

Scholo was also one of those instances that you could actually bring a 10-man group into, but if you did you wouldn't be able to complete quests. You could take a solid group of level 60 characters and drag a few extra level 55 or so characters along to gear them up. It was definitely tough to find a group that both was willing to do a 5-man run and then willing to clear the basement for that felcloth bag recipe. I feel like the only proper full 5-man runs I did in Vanilla were in-guild. I did quite a few runs on my rogue, since lots of folks were too cheap to get the key.
