Demis' story is inspiring, showing how complex backgrounds can succeed in "strict" fields. From chess to computers to game design, to AI through computational neuroscience - and you find these were interconnected from his early years. Many expect a scientist on the highest levels to have pivoted to their field from a very young age, similarly in sports or chess. It does not have to be like that; if you are passionate, more diverse backgrounds - especially in problem solving - could rather be advantageous. He is a great example of that.

Nobel lectures used to have depth in them. These ones did not go into any kind of detail. So high level that they did not say anything. Sad
