What is data-driven farriery? In the simplest terms, it's keeping good records of the condition and measurements of each horse a farrier serves. This is something that Principle Farrier Seth Noble has done for decades, and doing do helped him see the patterns and proportions across horses that became the foundation of the Signature Trim that is central to our methodology at Noble Farriery.
We know that the Signature Trim works and Seth knows deeply why it works, and our team has proved that it is repeatable by other farriers to get the same results. They also learned to track measurements to see each horse's progress and share it with clients.
But that mix of paper and digital records wasn't helping us in our next mission as a team: Using the data as we develop a curriculum for farriers and conduct research. We needed a solid database.
In this chapter of our behind the scenes look at running a multi-farrier company, you see and hear a little more from the folks not out in the field, including Project Advisor Jen Miller, who has developed the database and forms for the team in the last three months.
Out at Deerfield Farm, you'll also see the team work together as a highly efficient unit, and hear from the farriers a bit more about why this data-driven approach to farriery is so important for our horses and the equine care industry.
Special thanks for allowing us to film to Deer Field Farm, Heather Courtney and Chestnut Lane, Ravenswood and Lindsay Farris.
