You're welcome! You sound like a professional and it really would be great to hear more! I am not a singer or a coach but I am a Gaelic speaker, so I might make a spoken word recording of the lyrics as a guide to pronunciation. If so I will definitely let you know! Keep on singing!

Thank you for the constructive suggestion! If you find a more accurate version or record one yourself then I would definitely try working off of that instead. Working with a professional linguist would be a dream come true, but, unfortunately, doesn't fit into my time or financial budget since music is not my career. I appreciate the thoughtful comment :)

my god please match this up to music it'd be amazing
@katmoulton408512 жыл бұрын
Oh please do! This singer is certainly not the only one hunting for a more correct version. (Though she may have the best voice.) As a speaker and a linguist, I'm sure you realize how difficult Gaelic is for someone just trying to pick it up or pronounce a few lines--mostly due to the fact that the words don't look like the sounds. I've been trying to find help learning it online, but there are so many different pronunciations for each letter that even if you know the IPA it's confusing.

This is very good even though the pronunciation is off. Emma Thompson isn't a native Gaelic speaker and her pronunciation was rather messy. But Gaelic in general is difficult as far as pronunciation goes and the pronunciation differs between Irish and Scottish Gaelic and different dialects within Ireland and Scotland! x.x
@saoirserosenstock81447 жыл бұрын
yeah the pronunciation is a bit dodgy, sinn is shin,mise mish ah,for example(irish; difficult and stunning) but the spirt in that voice! so gentle x
@dremilymcewan12 жыл бұрын
Your voice is absolutely gorgeous!! To pronounce Gaelic correctly, I would suggest for you to take a Scottish Gaelic language course, or get coaching from a Gaelic teacher. Unfortunately Emma Thompson mis-pronounced most of the song, and her recording is not a good guide. As I understand it many professional singers receive foreign language coaching for opera and art song. Very best wishes, and hope to hear more singing from you!

and who has the source of the Gaelic language,,,,Eire,,,,Ireland. A language banned in Ireland for 800 yrs,,,its rebirth beginning in 1888 with R.J.O'Duffy forming the society for the preservation and re intro of the Gaelic language.The irish brought Gaelic to Wales Scotland and the isles,,,the irish are mad generous mad people.read Fate of the children of Tuireann, The children of UisneAC,,,THEN THEN get pickey with me and also get a life

@loganandtaylormartindale961710 жыл бұрын
What? She's singing it in the actual language. Rather than the movie. Our language is hard to speak, but once you know it. U can pronounce it right. So no. She didnt sing it wrong. She sung it like its supposed to be.
@petwoman72712 жыл бұрын
i really like your voice, but the way you sing is isn't the way it should be pronounced... Still a beautiful song though :)
