That garlic trick is unnecessary and takes too long to cut each one. I just put them on the counter. Whack it with the side of the knife and your peelings come right off.

To save your knife you can do same thing with a smooth side rock . They actually sell them for over $ 30! I just picked one up on a walk took it home & washed ,my friend used a decorative rock from her landscaping. It has been a great tool , lightly it peels quickly & a good wack gets you peeled & crushed garlic .

Thanks for all the useful hacks. I put garlic pod in the microwave for a few seconds. Then pull apart the cloves. Peels very easy without any tools!

Been doing the sandwich baking paper trick for years, you know how the cheese melts right out of your cheese toastie sometimes? Well with one piece of baking paper folded over the bread not 2 pieces, the escaping cheese can be saved by picking up the paper, bread and all, like a sling, and tip the lot onto your plate and the melted cheese slides right off the paper, hopefully onto the bread if lucky.
