📜 Oh, what is a drow but a sad little sack of trauma?
When Soren was sold into slavery under the cruel drow noble Nezznar Xorlarrin two decades ago, it was easy to hate him. When Soren saw a chance to destroy his master with the help of the party, it was easy to take it. But when Nezznar's desperate gambit backfires and turns him into a monster, Soren starts learning some uncomfortable truths about the cycle of violence that plagues all of drowkind.
And when the collapse of Nezznar's house gets both him and the party captured by the brutal drow nobility, so begins an adventure that might break the pattern once and for all.
anyways if someone told me in 2022 that the longest animatic I'd ever make would be for Nezznar "Personally Tormented My PC for Decades" Xorlarrin, I would have laughed at you lmao. ye t here we are. thank you RA Salvatore for taking both my kneecaps with ur wonderfully tragic race of people.

WELL. THIS ANIMATIC MADE ME CRY. It's kind of funny, but I recently rented out an actual published novel from the library set in the D&D universe, and it was so boring. I had no investment in the world or characters. It had no heart, and I had to put it down. And then I stumbled upon your animatics, and I was really intrigued by the stories they hinted at, and wanted more. So when I saw the link you posted in the description to your campaign logs, and I read them, I GOT SO INVESTED??? I actually cared about the characters, setting and plot? I was shocked by some plot twists? Why is your D&D campaign adventures so much better than an actual published D&D novel? Your party's adventures may not actually be an official book, but if they were published, I would buy them in a heartbeat. Thank you for writing them down and sharing them for fans to enjoy! I am now way too emotionally invested in all the characters, even the minor ones lol. ( NoName/Sunny is one of the most tragic of the ex-prisoners due to how broken she is, and I really hope she'll be able to gradually undo her lifetime of brainwashing, grow in self-esteem and maybe even reach the surface! But happy endings do be scarce in the Underdark. Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to reading the adventures of the crew!) Now that I have sufficiently fangirled over your story, I have to fangirl over the animatic that inspired me to read it. Your animation style is so appealing and even cute at times, but able to convey dark and graphic themes equally well, and paired with the music choice, it really makes you feel the tragedy of this DOUCHEBAG CHARACTER that we all feel sorry for anyway. It doesn't excuse anything he did (or how he is treating Sorrenar), but he is an intensely lonely character who has suffered at the hands of a society and goddess and house he tried so hard to uphold, only for it all to come crashing down on him and him losing everything, twice over, which is SO SAD. Characters that are evil(ish), twisted and tragic are as intriguing as they are depressing, and his story feels emblematic of the tragedy of the drow and their society in general. No wonder he had the longest animatic dedicated to him, and it's one of my favorites! You did a fantastic job!

UM!?!? It's 3AM here and I'm very bleary so I will have more coherent stuff to say in the morning when I am a person again but holy crap?? I am literally crying right now. This is such an insanely kind and sweet comment and it's everything I ever ever wanted to achieve as a storyteller. @@sunkisseddrow yup! Very dangerous. My drow is about to meet full underdark drow (other than his mother) for the first time in his life probably and I’m hoping it goes well myself and don’t die. After the ruins of a fallen ancient flying city. The drow found it before the party as they came in from underground. He was a butt though and decided to draw the emblem of Eilistraee on a wall where he was pretty sure those drow might pass by again, so he is a little playing with fire. He has a complicated relationship with his own race, though he hasn’t met other drow other than his own mother and he doesn’t know why she even left the underdark. But I’m looking forward to continuing this part of his storyline. For now he is trying to finish up the job he was hired for (finding and exploring this city while escorting a wizard) and avoid the drow for the time being, but it’s leading up to a confrontation with them from what the dm is foreshadowing. Which should be interesting with the dynamic of our newest party member being a wood elf. Can’t really play that off and bluff around that he “owns” the rest of the party when he is well aware that leaving other elf races alive is a big no no in that culture. He warned the party recently about that too. He would try to bluff about such a thing but there was a good chance it might not work (none of us have the charisma to stand up for it, mostly wisdom or intelligence focused, I’m the closest at being average). Still can’t wait, even if it might end up a tpk. The story there is too good of potential lol. I hope you all can turn around the campaign though. I’d love to see more of them thrive! And I adore your drow besides, as mentioned in previous videos. 🥰 He’s just so incredibly interesting to me! Ah and I just loved the perspective of this. Most of your videos have focused on the perception of this story through the eyes of the bard, but seeing it via this direction is very enlightening too. Makes it hit home how tragic their connection is and heartbreaking their difference in development is.

It's AWESOME!! I already loved all your animatics, but I think this one is from fat the best! The drawings are amazing: the light, the colors, and gosh the expressions! I'm an absolute lover of vilain redemption and his story is so great! Arrg please protect him so he can have a total redemption and finally be happy! (Also, I love your Nezznar so much, I'm now making a personnel goal of making my version of the character this great -- at least try! Even if my Nezznar is more a "need to take assurance" type. I guess 75 years being controlled by magic and being abused all your life can be quite traumatizing)
