As someone who lived in converted (illegally) Loft Style buildings in NYC, because I was a poor artist - everybody knows large windows and high ceilings make things very COLD in the winter and make heating extremely expensive and difficult. Actually designing a "Loft Style Building" from the ground up is ridiculous. Loft living was invented in the first place because artists, sculptors, musicians etc. NEEDED space, height and freight elevators to make/move large objects and make a mess and noise late at night. This neighborhood was, and partially is. an old school, quiet, working class Italian enclave.

I totally agree. Concrete and glass look great but are very unforgiving. I did a shoot in DTLA in a loft they were already complaining about how hot it would get.

@kaleb5926 Fun science facts - Glass will always take heat out of it's surroundings, no matter how many panes you have and Heat always rises. You need large heavy curtains in winter which can be a pain. It's still a cool way to live - just saying it's not the most efficient design even with advances and Loft living was originally due to necessity and price.

Hmm... $1.9M? Okay, I wouldn't run from it, but it doesn't make me want to hop over fences to get to it either. Personally, I thought the bedrooms leaned to the smallish side given the price point. At that price, I'd like to have room for a seating area. Also, that wasn't a laundry room. It was a laundry closet. What I did like (and would be a huge selling point for me) is that the developer found local craftsman to contribute to the construction. EXCELLENT! Overall... It's nice. The neighborhood is nice. It's new construction. However, this only makes a "maybe" list for me.

Exactly! All new construction uses those crappy stacked LG washer/dryer units. It takes hours to dry your clothes. This is yet another builder grade building under the guise of luxury simply because it's expensive. The bedrooms are small. They forced two bedrooms into a 1 bedroom apartment.

I lived in a converted warehouse in Long Island City, Queens for a year and was sick on day 1, until the end of my lease! A lot of these converted modern and flashy apartments do not have proper insulation and reek havoc on our immune and respiratory systems (and skin). Never again!

Really lovely! Roomy, bright, fabulous bedrooms and baths, living room has lots of room to live in. If only the kitchen had a pullout drawer for my dog's bowl, I'd be snapping that baby up before you could say "two mil for a two bedroom is obscene." The market may support it, but how do working families manage to house themselves these days? But - yes. It really is a nice apartment Cash. Very pretty place...but I agree...windows being huge does make it harder to keep warm. We have the opposite problem with large windows in Phoenix... they will make a room HOT...the larger windows will be under a patio, or an awning for shade.

Sorry but I'm underwhelmed with this place for the price. The plus is that they're actually installing an elevator (eventually) so you don't have to lug groceries, packages, etc up the stairs & the movers won't charge you more. It's nice to hear that the cabinets are being made locally & look like decent quality. Living, dining & kitchen area seems large & open but the bedrooms??? For that price point to only accommodate a queen size bed? We've seen way larger bedrooms in this price range. I can't even imagine how the roof deck will be divided into little private areas for 4 of the units. It sounds like the bottom 2 units will have the most useable outdoor space of all the units & the most private. Do those windows even open? It's hard to tell, especially since Cash didn't do the "quiet test" of windows open vs closed. Also it never seems to get mentioned who maintains the common areas or where you throw your garbage. I'm assuming there no real "amenities " either. To me it doesn't seem worth the price.

I find it strange that on many windows on buildings it said no cash allowed. My husband politely reminded me that their are many car rental places even back in the 80's and 90's that only took major credit cards for car rentals so nothing really all that odd there. He is such a brilliant many and i am a very forgetful woman i am very glad i have him.
