It's just surreal to see a country where virtually all of its residents aren't actually citizens (for both UAE and Qatar) hehe...you'd think that would be a recipe for instability (although I get both are like semi-absolute emirates) but they somehow make it work for some reason (even if I do hear dubious stuff of how they treat foreign workers who haven"t built a good earning yet).

Well ofcourse, strict enforcement of rules makes people scared. And when you are in debt, you have to stay and follow the rules. Rules that range from stickers being banned on cars, to many other things, like leaving a negative review on google maps. So naturally, people who have a lot to lose, like their job, not being able to pay debt, and not being able to feed their families back home, or even here if they bring them, tends to make people follow the rules rigioriously.

@ I would qualify it as a contactless glance for a couple of seconds, nothing to do with Arab hospitality. Though it’s nothing surprising, the UAE/Qatar/Bahrain/Kuwait (Omanis and Saudis are better at this) have delegated just about everything to foreigners, locals are just utterly lazy/uninterested in showcasing the tiny culture they have to outsiders and figured any random Indian/Nepali/Pakistani who just landed a week prior can do it.
