All of ours (we have had 13 before our latest 4) ..are buried in our backyard with great love. It's a pet cemetery by now! We had 8 all together for many years, strays or desperate ones. Now we have 3 plus our stray boy who's nervous so I guess he's ours. He only lets me pat him after 3 years. He gets so much food. He's still nervous but we spoil him big time. They love us unlimited.

@@denisesurber8176... as well as piles of cat food (the better quality ones), my husband buys them a big amount of cooked chicken too each week from the store. I made the stray a bed at the top our steps as he's too scared to be inside and we bought him a 200 dollar plus cat house with bed too, but I think it's a bit dangerous because if a cat is attacked in there, there's nowhere to run but he can take his chances in the rain in there at least.

Absolutely agree! My family doctor's wife used to have me fix her computer, and I visited them frequently. One day I found she had a rather ancient cat hanging around her office. It turns out that this guy had for many years been a wild tom who all but terrorized the neighbourhood cats, a bit of a feline thug really. Well they finally managed to trap and fix him and put him in retirement under the care of Mrs. H. This "untameable" tom was the sweetest creature you could imagine, and would immediately park himself on my lap whenever I went round.

@@NoirRaven Yeah I heard her say he was on the street but to be honest there is no way to know how long the cat was on the street as a stray. I have fostered countless feral cats and that cat was very friendly and adjusted to living indoors in a house. even if the cat was at the shelter for a long time that cat adjusted to being in a house immediately....which is extremely out of the ordinary for a feral cat who lived on the street for 16 years..I suspect the cat had an owner at one point in his life and then, unfortunately, ended up on the street. We adopted a senior cat with some health issues too. He was about 9 but he looked older because he'd been a stray with bad teeth, stomach issues, and had apparently been hit by a car at some point and his back legs healed wrong so he couldn't jump very well or run very fast. We had to take him home with us though, he bonded with my husband immediately when we were at the shelter and he was the sweetest, most laid back cat I've ever met. He was also gigantic lol not fat, but he looked like a short-haired Maine Coon because he was so big. He passed away after about four years with us as well, that was almost six years ago and we still talk about him and miss him. I adopted an 10 year old cat named Abby from a shelter in San Diego (shout out Helen Woodward) and gave her a home for the last 6 years of her life. She was the sweetest cat I’ve ever had and I miss her now that she is gone. I cried so much when she died and despite several years passing since then, I still get tears in my eyes when I think about her.

God bless you! I too still get tears in my eyes thinking about my late cat daughter, who died at 17. I grieved for 16 years, and literally 16 years after her death a new girl came into my life; a Siamese mix, Babette, who is now almost four. I love her as much as my late girl, but differently. When the time is right, a new love will come to you 😺💕

Oh my goodness he is so special. Look at him. Thank you for rescuing him. I'm so so glad you both had four amazing years together. If I had seen him in the shelter I would have done exactly the same thing (and did with Max! Who looks very much like Heiko). Not a single regret! xo

Cats are so adorable in accessories. But it's important that it is safe. There are, unfortunately, many accessories out there that can risk their lives when worn..

Such a sweet couple to adopt this older cat and give him a loving home. This is a wonderful story and I'm so happy that they were able to enjoy each other for those 4 years. God bless to all in the video. What a wonderful way to honor Heiko's memory to put his ashes in the garden he loved and plant a tree for him.

It's always the family who suffers the most when a loved one passes. Even though they are sad they should never forget the love and happy home they provided to Heiko when no one else would. RIP sweet kitty.

All the GeoBeats stories are heart warming to me. Heiko's story brought tears to my eyes. Over the years, I've had two Ginger cats in my life (Bubba in 1980s and Porter 2010s) whom I loved dearly. Five years ago, we had to put Porter down so we know the void left when your beloved pet/companion is gone. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story. It reminded me of my two wonderful companions.

I was so happy to see Heiko living a good life at last, so much character and personality. When you revealed he had died I burst into tears. You did a wonderful tribute to him. We have adopted aged cats over the years and agree you are right, such great companions with their experience and wisdom. I remember all our old friends so fondly, it is so fulfilling having the join our lives, even briefly.

The story came to me at the perfect time. Last week I had to make the choice to say goodbye to my beautiful loving companion who had just turned 19. I was waiting until he let me know it was time, and found a vet that came to the house to first give him a shot to relax him, and then the final shot. I can’t explain how much a part of me he was. My husband and son loved him too, but they both worked through the pandemic and I was home with Logan constantly. He always followed me from room to room and sat next to me or on me, but during those two years at the end he was like an extra appendage! It was the sweetest thing. I love the story and love that there are people who appreciate elderly cats and how much love they have to give 💗

How wonderful that Heiko got to spend his senior years in a loving home 😻 Lost my 19 year old cat a year ago (he was a stray that adopted us) we buried him in his favourite garden and I still tell him sweet dreams every night. Cats are such loving creatures to their selected humans. Love to you and your husband from Canada xo
