This podcast is becoming part of my Friday morning routine. Love it. Good to see you back, Danny (but take it easy please). Also, Jeremy can you give us an update on your game? I'm an amateur solo indie dev too and it's nice to see how others are doing.

I once went home with a girl who couldn't get her contacts out and then asked me to try. We were both drunk and I've never had any interaction w/ contacts before so spent 10 mins gingerly touching her eyeballs and failing. Nothing has ever ruined the mood more.

Fallout 1 and 2 were incredible and ahead of their time. They were dark, gritty and morally ambiguous. I got lost in the those worlds for hours.

The confusion over the developers of Fallout 1 and 2 is understandable due to Interplay's rebranding exercise. So Fallout 1 was made under "Interplay's internal RPG development studio," and that studio was then given the name "Black Isle" shortly after FO1 came out. So FO2 was then proclaimed as being made by "Black Isle Studios." But Black Isle Studios = Interplay's internal development studio. They just shuffled some personnel around (so Cain left partway through FO2 development and people like Avellone came in as newcomers). The "best Fallout game" is contentious because each game added lots of new players but also shifted tone and style a lot, with even Fallout 2 being a lot goofier than FO1. So you have a very divided fanbase as each game added a ton of new players with a different idea of what Fallout "should be," with radically different tones and styles, and each game sold dramatically more than the one before, so you have recency bias fighting old-school grognards who played the first game when it came out. It's all a bit tedious, none of them are crap games (apart from Fallout 76 on release, and non-Tactics Brotherhood of Steel obvs) and the fact they keep changing styles means that hopefully the next game should be different again (you can also chuck in Wasteland 2 and 3 to appeal to older-skool Fallout fans). If New Vegas is the best FO game - which I think there's reasonable support for - it's in the same way that people say Empire is the best Star War (which also took a good 15 years to become a widespread opinion), like if people someone says Hope, Jedi, Rogue or Andor is the best Star War, that's respectable. I feel that way about people saying they prefer FO1, 2, 3 or 4. If they said Brotherhood of Steel, the Rise of Skywalker of the Fallout franchise, not so much. But on that basis Fallout has a pretty high hit rate.

Just to be clear, people weren't happy with Fallout 76 not because it was multiplayer but the astronomical bugs, poorly thought out game mechanics, bricking people's consoles and PC's, undelivered pre-order items (Canvas bag), no refunds on request and adding pay to win micro-transactions after release.

The reason why Danny gets Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins confused is probably because they played the protagonist and the rival/antagonist (respectively) of the FX show Justified. It was on around the same time as Sons of Anarchy as well which is probably why that show came to mind.

Probably. I don't remember the score for Fallout BOS but there was a bunch of licensed metal in that game. I know there was a Shadows Fall song for sure.

I always point out to FNV fans who hate on F3 that Bethesda bought the ingredients and set the table so that Obsidian could make dinner. HOw did FNV come together in 18 months? Because Obsidian got the engine, the art assets, the mechanics from Bethesda.

Love listening to you guys. After it found its footing in the fourth episode, the Fallout show only increasingly got better. I'm really happy with it.

Fallout Tactics is all about the Brotherhood of Steel. You start as a Squire and work your way up as you progress through the story. IIRC you end up in Colorado raiding NORAD or something lol. ALSO! R. Lee Ermey is your commanding officer and has a TON of lines in the game and he nailed it.

Fallout 1 & 2 are incredible - my favs in the series Fallout Tactics is amazing - I'm definitely on one end of the polarization! Fallout BoS is a travesty - NEVER PLAY IT! Fallout 3 & NV are both brilliant - must plays Fallout 4 is essentially baby's first Fallout - super simplified but still fun

Shelter is also fun. A certain online game doesn't exist.

I enjoy all the modern fallout games, currently playing 76. But new vegas is just in another echelon to me. Its in the deus ex, baldurs gate 3 "holy shit you can do that and the game accounts for it" echelon. I felt like my choices matter, i felt like i could accomplish anything in multiple different ways, i felt like i could kill any character and the game has 50 voiced lines about it. It just stands out.

Fallout New Vegas has always been good to me. I love it a lot. Even when it was freezing a bunch on my PS3. I like Fallout 3 and 4 a lot too. I never had the patience to learn the combat for 1 and 2. Haven't played tactics.

Fallout BoS is goofy trash. Nuka Cola is replaced with Bawls energy drink and plays Slipknot and other nu metal bands during boss fights

I have beat Fallout Brotherhood of Steel because i really liked rpgs that were made with the engine that Champions of Norrath and Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance were made on. Its a bad Fallout game but not a terrible game to play.

I get you gotta get out, but why not wait for everyone to see the last few episodes? It would be one more week, idk its funny the one guy who watched it all was alot more positive about the show. While i agree with some of the criticism id just prefer a full-view of the show first.
