I bought one of these last year. I've used it several times this winter when it dropped down to -44c in central Alberta. Great thing to have. It boosted my 93 caddy on first try. Several neighbours cars as well. I'm retired so I don't drive much. Especially in these temps. Just wanted to give the fluids a stir, while car is plugged in. Sign your organ donor cards at these temps.

THANK YOU!!!!! Broke down suddenly at a gas station and the car wouldn't crank back up after getting gas. It was me and my son and I had this but haven't used it yet. So I googled how to and your vehicle got us out of traffic and out of the way of people needing gas and got us home safely so we GREATLY appreciate it.

When you turn on the power then push the red button, you override all safety functions. The override button should only be used when your battery is so low that regular charging procedures do not work. Push the power button AFTER you’ve hooked up the clamps to the battery

Last time you did a review on a Noco product I end up purchasing one myself lol. Thanks for taking the time to review Dino. It’s certainly a product that I have been wanting to add to the car as you just never know when you need it. Noco is a solid brand and I don’t recall ever seeing any negatives regarding them Thanks again mate

Another excellent video. I have the GB50 it’s a great device. On my unit the instructions say that the boost function is only used when the battery is dead flat. Normally the unit will detect its connected to the battery and the white LED will light up. If it doesn’t, then you use boost. Boost bypasses all the units protection functions. Your model maybe different.

TAKEN FROM THE INSTRUCTION BOOKLET - "Compatibility. The product is only compatible with 12-volt lead-acid batteries only. Do not attempt to use product with any other type of battery. Jump starting other battery chemistries may result in injury, death or property damage. Contact the battery manufacturer prior to attempting to jump start the battery. Do not jump start a battery if you are unsure of the battery's specific chemistry or voltage". What's with that??
@EFFICIENTSELF
@EFFICIENTSELF 6 күн бұрын
ensures safe use and limits liability. The jump starter is designed only for 12V lead-acid batteries. Usually car batteries are lead acid .Using it on other types (like lithium-ion) can cause fires, explosions, or damage. It’s about safety and preventing misuse. Manufacturers gotta cover their arse I suppose. Thanks for watching 👍🍻

will the white indicator light come on if you attach to a car battery even if it doesnt need to be boosted? the reason im asking is bc we recently had -40 degree weather and it killed my car, i purchased this but never seen after the weather warmed up if my car would start; so i just automatically boosted it without checking first. So I am curious about that if you would know?

Yeah, this is incorrect. Go watch the NOCO videos. This dude is bypassing all the safety features unnecessarily, the unit auto boosts unless your battery is under 2v then you have to manual boost. Also, first connect to the battery and then switch it on.

How were your clamps? Were they hard to open. I just ordered these on Amazon and used it for the first time. It worked great but the clamps were so hard to open that I thought my hands would break. I had to use heavy duty gloves to do open them. A man on the reviews said the same thing. So I’m thinking maybe it’s defective and I should exchange it.

yes the clamps are hard to open. they are not faulty as they need to be firmly clamped to your battery terminals when jump starting your vehicle. try using two hands when using the clamps . hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍🍻

As usual great review. I wonder how many jump starts the Noco unit will do before its batteries are knackered? They claim 20 starts before requiring recharging, but I'm talking about longevity of the cells assuming you don't discharge them too low, i.e. you recharge them after each use. There is a discharge limit from lithium polymer cells, high discharge rated cells can be up to 35C or even 50C so the 4AH Noco unit will deliver 140A and maybe even 200A for a short period if they use appropriate high discharge LiPo cells. However on their website they claim 24Wh for the GB40 which makes it 2AH, not 4AH. I wonder what that's about? The GB70 is claimed to have a 56Wh capacity which is a capacity of 4.7AH at 12V The 1000A rating emblazoned on the unit is probably a one time only rate. i.e pull 1000A, put it in the bin. I'm not sure what the Noco instructions say, but I would expect they will want the car battery to be connected when jump starting to add whatever starter current it can on top of the Noco. All their images show that too. I think the eBay units at half the price are using low quality or non high discharge cells...so more likely to catch fire than start the car. Like you said, don't waste your money, at best they may start a car - once. Also you highlighted that its important to get the right unit for your car. Bigger engines usually pull more current to start, so the "2000A" unit may be able to deliver 280 - 400A for short bursts. Thanks for the Video, I have somewhat more confidence in Noco now, but for the 3L diesel I think I need to shell out for the GB150 if I was to go this way.

I have the GB40 and I love it. But that red button with the ! on it is NOT the boost button! It is the SAFETY OVERRIDE button. You hit the power button and it is ready to go. You are telling people to shut off the built in safety. That is only used if the battery to be boosted has a voltage below 2 volts. Sorry but you have to read the instructions. You are giving bad advise. If you hook the booster up backwards and don't know what that little white light is telling you and you push the red override button it probably isn't going to end well.🙁 Sorry I just didn't want anybody to destroy there booster but then every body should read the instructions.👍
