Very good analysis. I agree that one of the major (even if unpopular) theme's is duty; which was indeed tragic, especially after spending a majority of the game bantering and hanging out with your friends. The 10 year jump in the last few hours of the game really did have a strong impact; Noctis fulfilling his duty. I actually respect FFXV more after this video. Keep it up man.

Thanks! And yeah, tragic is the defining word. On the one hand I think the game is brave in not giving us a fairytale ending... on the other hand, it sucks to come to terms with such an outcome. Very well made ending though, it''s emotional.

It's great to see someone speaking so eloquently on the parallel between Hamlet and Noctis! I studied this play for my English exams at school, and whilst playing, I also saw parallels between Ophelia and Luna. Fantastic video as always, and thank you for your in-depth analysis!

Not gonna lie... I was expecting for Noctis to live and end up with an older Iris. Great game. Such a bittersweet ending. Loved your analysis. It’s nice to peel back those layers and see the nuances in the story in parallel to other thematic works.

Great analysis. You should play chapter Ardyn. It's awesome, and I think that it could change your point of view. Surprisingly, Ardyn is the one who is Hamlet like, but the outcome of both histories ended very differently. Somnus ended up being crowned as king, but Ardyn was captured and tortured for thousands of years. He finally returned to get his revenge not against Somnus, but against Noctis instead. The sad part is that Noctis discovers the whole truth and accepts that his lineage has been corrupted since the begining. His ultimate sacrifice is to erase all trace of the Lucis family from Eos in order to restore dawn and erradicate the starscourge. What a tragic story.

Thanks for the comment man. Yeah I'm really looking forward to playing episode Ardyn. I made a video about Ardyn too where I made some assumptions about him and his relationship with Somnus, so I'm keen to see how that turns out! FFXV is very tragic, it's a very interesting mythology.

Trying to learn more of the character as i reminisce about 15 and whether it was good.. I def think they missed the mark in terms of connecting us between Luna and Noct. Yea, there’s def the heavy Hamlet similarities, but besides the ties to classic literature, there was virtually no chemistry whatsoever and what’s more virtually no contact either … def lessening the impact of the loss.. wholly unlike the connection Tidus and Yuna made in FFX.. but perhaps they didn’t wanna another ‘cheesy lover’ dialogue in this one
