Hi all. Got a fair few videos planned for the coming week. Until the next one, stay safe.

Hey! Can you make a video with the Noctua NH-L9a but a 92x25mm fan instead of the stock 92x14mm fan? Do you think it would make a significant difference? Also, have you tried fitting the Scythe Big Schurken 3 on the Gigabyte X570i board? TIA!
@L914 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried Scythe cooler yet because I know it’s not as good as the L12S. I’ve got next video planned ft. the L9A so I can certainly add in the 25mm fan results. Personally I’ve not noticed any significant difference in the past when I’ve tried slim vs thick fan, but sadly don’t have exact differences so more than happy to help.

Visualizations. Thank you for having those. I was getting tired of looking over reviews of people talking instead of showing this thing's clearance ranges.

nice, finally a view of the cooler on top of actual mobo, size and noise comparison. fantastic job, my man

The best thing to note is that as more heat is generated, the gap between cooler becomes more pronounced. I'm also working on way more updated cooler comparison video featuring around 10 of the best LP coolers available. You can check out the thermal data here: reviewer.co/coolers/idcooling-is-55

@@L91 what gap do you mean? gap between fins? due to thermal expansion of metal?
@L912 жыл бұрын
@@vladyslavkotov7570 my apologies, I meant thermal performance gap between coolers increases with thermal load. Example: 65W load vs 120W or 120W vs 180W load. Lower thermal load decrease the thermal performance difference between coolers. Higher thermal load will increase the thermal performance difference between difference coolers.

i used FurMark to load my 5600x with NH-L12S , the cpu temp shoot up to 84degree, the idle temp is 42degree (23degree ambient), did you get 66 degree at full load? i wonder if there is sth wrong with my setup
@L913 жыл бұрын
This was openbench setup, no fans. IDLE temps are fine. Theirs definitely something a miss with stress temps. Should be more around 70°C depending on your setup. Yes, the CPU was at full load for 10 minutes. Is the CPU brand new? Did you flip the CPU Fan to pull air towards the CPU on the L12S? What case are you using? This is the most likely culprit.
@sunnyliu34883 жыл бұрын
@@L91 i re-seated the L12S, now i got idle temp at 35degree. I re-try the stress test with CPU-Z and got 78degree this time, but i realize in your test you got something like 35xx on the blue bar, whilst I got 50xx on mine , what does this blue bar means? Is it clock speed?
@sunnyliu34883 жыл бұрын
sorry, missed you question: my setup is openbench without any case too, fans are blowing in the direction of the heatsink.
@L913 жыл бұрын
All good 👍 seems to have just been the seating issue, as for the blue bar, not sure at the moment but your temps do seem okay now. Best advice, make sure your Motherboard and Drivers are upto date. CPU temps below 80 is acceptable during stress temps so all good. Gaming won't run your CPU anywhere near as hard.

Do you think it's feasible to run a 4.7GHz overclock on a daily basis while paired with the NH-L12S? The reason why I'm asking is because my MoBo is very aggressive on the voltages so I don't trust it with boosting properly
@L913 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but you have to just trial and error. I've considered overclocking the 5600X, but you lose single core performance for better multicore. I'm not overly confident in CPU overclocking, so best Google it and go from there.

Yooo i have 5600x, and cooled with l12s like you have there. I havent installed the windows yet, but my cpu showed 60c in bios. Do you face the same problem?
@L914 жыл бұрын
Could be poor airflow in the case. At the same time, the CPU can spike in temp due to the CPU boosting. Is it at or around 60° all the time?
@ihsankhalil67694 жыл бұрын
Well, i opened the case actually, nah its still new so i just knew the temps from bios, it started from 50 and went up to 60, in bios. Do you think i should upgrade the bios or try reseating the cpu? My case is nr200, with intake fan right at the top of the cooler

Do you mean your going to overclock the CPU to 4.6? Both coolers will work fine and have recently tested them using stock CPU behaviour: reviewer.co/blog/low-profile-cpu-coolers I haven't tested the 5600X with PBO enabled yet on these coolers but intend to in the coming days for upcoming cooler comparison. The C14S will perform best I'd imagine if you plan on overclocking. If not then they perform pretty similar.

@@serenychhor6095 I'm not completely clued up on Overclocking either. TBH, if your not compedent in OC, then I recommend using PBO via the motherboard bios or Ryzen Master. The NH-C14S hits about 77° with PBO enabled.
