To remove noctua clips easily- hook the metal tab that protrudes slightly. Push it forwards, which slides it from the groove it sits in, and then pull out slightly. It will spring right off. I actually dremelled a plastic spudger to put a notch in it to do this easily.

That is what is suggested on noctuas site for the d15s whereas you went with the orientation suggested for the non-s d15.

hi , thanks for the video, it was helpful to me . Anyway this is the ROG STRIX Z690-E (ATX), right? Becouse on the Noctua site the -G (mATX variant) is reported as fully compatible with the NH-D15S (not with the "regular" NH-D15 ), and seems more or less of the same quality of the -E, excpet for the fact it is a Micro :D

@ THE PROVOKED PRAWN What motherboard is this? I have the Asus Rog Strix z690-f will the Noctua D15 fit this motherboard without blocking anything? And is there a difference in upright orientation vs. side orientation?
@TheProvokedPrawn3 жыл бұрын
This is the Strix Z690-E Gaming Wi-Fi. You might have the same problem - ncc.noctua.at/motherboards/model/ASUS-ROG-Strix-Z690-F-Gaming-WiFi-5374 Essentially it's in a sub-optimal position because ideally it should be sucking air from the front of the case and blowing hot air out of the back, but in this position it's essentially sucking warm air up from the GPU. It's still possible as you can see, but not ideal.

I'm doing a build with the z690 aorus and a noctua nh d15 with an i7 12700k so overall you say that if I want to use it initially to make games or small uses I can do it, but if I use it too high it will overheat. right?
@TheProvokedPrawn3 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the 12700k the temps will probably be different. Even in my case it's fine for gaming. The point is this CPU runs hot. It's known for being hot. It's not the coolers. Fault. But this also isn't optimal positioning.
@pacoxxi33023 жыл бұрын
@@TheProvokedPrawn it is true that these cpu have overheating, but I believe that noctua should have moved a little earlier with lga 1700 as in q2 of 2022 there is an update or retirement of nhd15 with a possible nhd16 that will be compatible with lga1718 and 1700.

Very good review, a little to long for my linking :) , but good ! I'm a little confused about the number of fans, seems ... to much, maybe. The idea of airflow, inside any case, is to have an equal number of fans for input and ouput, on opposite sides of the case, to obtain, at best, a laminar flow, which is desired. With you fans displaced like that, you'll get turbulent flow, no matter how you direct the air, because there are too many direction for the air flow. Just saying.

Why not use the NH-U12A instead? I saw a test that shows it outperformed D15S and is more compact in size.
@bananajoes Жыл бұрын
It would be the most logical, that position is horrible not to mention that you can touch the second fan with the gpu in addition to covering the air inlet and the dust that would fall to the gpu, all the memories are covered and there are no holes to manage cables, it is horrible in all aspects, +1 for the NH-U12A is the biggest thing I would give it in air coolers. The double tower ones only give you headaches and cover the entire motherboard destroying all its aesthetics.

Hi Provoked Prawn , I am now building about the same build same Mother board and the same cooler , You could try turning the Noctua Cooler 180 degrees , so upside down ,and then it fits with the boards heat-sink , of coarse connect the ventilator blowing to the back of the PC (it fits same same both sides no problem ) I think the Cool plate will touch better then with your option , also i used a better cool past Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut , that one is also better for overclocking , (also i saw or read somewhere that they said to apply it every year new , seams a bit much , but anyway refresh it at some moment ) I am not done yet , still need to connect the Power Supply to the board etc .bios start up and Windows ! Ow i bought the Fractal design define 7 case , I like it everything fits good , user friendly case , with sound damping material inside !*-*) There are 3 models , the 7 XL (big) the 7 (medium) the comfort 7 ) small , i have the model 7
