I loved Laura Linney as Amy Adams' cynical, materialistic mother. Only onscreen for a few minutes, but such a trip seeing her. (And she had the best line in the movie: "Eventually, we all turn into our mothers".)

@sebastiansfeci13058 жыл бұрын
Michael Cassolato how can you deny that his level of success and acclaim in two completely different industries is impressive and requires an immense amount of talent?
@cnote35988 жыл бұрын
90% of fashion designers put out pretentious nonsense that no normal person would wear. That's not talent, that is living within a bubble. As for film, yes, he has talent as a director, but the real talent of film-making lies within the screenplay. A good director can't make a bad screenplay work, but a good screenplay can make a bad director look good. The writing in this film is ok and the industry is fawning over him b/c of who he is.

I had mixed feelings on wanting to see this movie. This review got me totally on board with it. The thing I mostly love about Amy Adams is that she almost always chooses great scripts (and yes, she is gorgeous). What The Flick had a great week this week. They had a lot of movies to review. And, almost all of them were worth watching (Oscar bait season ?). I wish, on weeks that the movies are awful, they would give a 3 min review and then delve into the archives to review one of the great older movies. And Finally, everyone on the show had actually seen the movies. I hate when they have someone on the panel say I didn't (take the time to) see the movie. Good all around.

Really love how excited Christy gets about this movie around the 1:30 mark. That said the subject matter does not attract me. Dysfunctional marriages and morose self-destructive personalities, thanks but no thanks. I have or at least had my own junk to deal with, I don't think I have anything to learn here. The mood looks consistently dour and depressed, much like last month's Girl on the Train. I'd rather see Deepwater Horizon a third time or maybe Doctor Strange.

@thomashcullen86697 жыл бұрын
Nocturnal Animals is about the means of justifying bias. Or, to put it another way, Tom Ford's drama is about the moral need to end the duplication of cause so that the original cause of the universe has a right to become violent. Even more impressively, Nocturnal Animals is about the war between the link between reality's origin and morality and the ability of that link.

I thought the movie was okay, but not that great. Especially in the first half you have no clue what's going on. And it's not like the movie is dropping clue's or anything. It doesn't really seem to go anywhere. The dialogue left me pretty bored for the largest part of the movie and the acting seemed a bit over the top or not genuine at times. As the movie progresses the story is becoming more clear and it becomes more enjoyable. It's not that i don't get confusing storylines or don't enjoy movies where you really have to think but this one just didn't really do it for me. Definitely not Amy Adams' best performance of the year but it's worth checking it out if you like these kind of movies. I don't think the mainstream moviegoer would enjoy this movie that much. I would rate it a 6,5/10

I just want to know what all you critics have been smoking. This film stinks something awful. It's all style with zero substance. It's like a big dumb soap opera where we watch Amy Adams contemplate where her multi millionaire lifestyle went so tragically wrong. As we watch her read her ex's terrible novel. I honestly thought it was a parody for a while until I realised just what a self indulgent pile of crap it really is. Comparisons with Mulholland Drive are simply foolish.

Amy Adams has to have the greatest agent in Hollywood or she gave or soul or something. She keeps getting all these big mainstream films and quality indie-ish films. Out of all the female redheads out there in Hollywood, Jessica Chastain is the only one who can actually act but damn. Amy Adams is doing something cause she can't act for shit lol.

Nope. She can't act. Julianne Moore came before all of them and so she's far above their league. Jessica Chastain is a lot better of an actress than Adams. I've seen enough off Adams to know this is true. The shitty DC movies, and her David O. Russell performances are average.
