go 7 string a 6 string will not sound anything like this well in its regular tuning yes but not in a low tuning unless you have a baritone which is still a 6 string but the scale of the neck is longer your average rock metal 6 string guitar is 24 fret scale baritone is a 30 in scale so its is gonna be alot of work to convert and youll be luck if you come near the sound of a 7 string you'll also be sacrificing some low end which you don't want plus wont be able to do much shredding at higher notes like a regular 6 string unless you get a 7 string which you wont loose anything but only gain more options to solo because you have your 6 strings and regular standard 6 string tuning which you know and are you used too the neck on this guitar is not that much wider its a fast neck which ibanez 7 string guitars are known for the wizard neck just go 7 string trust me btw i own this same guitar and love it.

wont come out as nice as this due to its low tuning gonna have to some setting up just get strings to sit properly the intonation has to be right string size will have to change the guitar will sound very muddy the string fairly floppy due the drastic down tune so if you want to play low end oh yeah that's some thing else you will end up loosing you'll loose some bottom end tone so just get a 7 string its not that much different just an extra string and the neck on this guitar is fantastic i own one as well. so if not this guitar any 7 string. only you can play a 6 string like this is if anything remotely close to this is a baritone which is a highly modified 6 string the the neck scale is different for example a 6 string guitar made for rock and metal is a 24 inch scale neck. a baritone guitar is a 30 inch scale neck so different so just go 7 string.
