I have to say for two completely straight guys I’ve never seen an on screen gay romantic relationship like what these two created in Shameless before from anyone else- including actors who are actually gay and that says a lot. Their chemistry was so on point it was believable. This shows more than anything that u don’t have to have literal real life representation for a fictional character to come alive. Oh, I remember the "this is creepy and out of touch with reality" comment and honestly, he was right. People not getting that they play two amazing characters in a great show and spamming them with inappropriate comments takes the fun out of it for everyone. Obviously that's not the majority of people but it still sucks. We can be happy about how things turned out so far with Ian and Mickey and I'm happy to see their actors seem to get along really well. I agree. Yes, the two actors have great chemistry, and they obviously have bond between them. But it's their characters who are in love, not them. I think it's weird that people make comments about wanting them to be a couple in real life. I totally ship Ian/Mickey, not Cameron/Noel. (Although I will admit that I love goofy behind the scenes videos where the two of them are joking around together or bantering with each other during interviews. They're both just so adorable!) But it's creepy to try and look for a sexual or romantic relationship between them! Comments like that would make me really uncomfortable if I were an actor in a similar situation.

The creepy and out of touch with reality thing Monaghan dropped when fans made a photo manipulation in which the original showed him and his girlfriend at the time kissing and then someone replaced her with a photo of Mickey via photoshop or whatever. Of course, they have chemistry. You can't do those sexual scenes for YEARS and open your mouth THAT deeply over and over and over.. without feeling anything for your colleague. Both are clearly bisexual. Hollyweird is not an easy place to understand and really actors will do most anything for work, yet alone a career/role. But the reality is most people forget is that they are human and very open minded sexually BEFORE they get there. Most of Hollywood is bisexual/pansexual to the absolute core. This is no doubt.. why neither are actually married. They both have identified with very strong homosexual characters to most audiences. Certainly sexually explicit working class ones. They both had incredible onscreen chemistry and Fishers' performance was not only disturbingly delivered but one almost forgets it's acting- it was that flawless. He literally channels "Mickey". Monaghan did amazing work with the character Ian and moved beyond just his looks into doing stunning things with his voice and eyes. Not easy to create. The show is horribly cruel and rather clownlike in it's baseness of their world. It is terribly ironic that the gay male relationship would be it's strongest long running arc and arguably it's most successful aspect .

First of all Noel is ten years older than Cameron. Second, of course there is something there; they've worked together closely and often intimately for ten years. Cameron was like 16 when they started and Noel was a grown ass man so there had to be a lot of respect and trust there for them to successfully portray these characters and film these scenes early on. Lastly after ten years of making out and more in front of crew and cameras they have a camaraderie and a strong relationship based on mutual respect and non-romantic affection for one another. Together they've created an on-screen relationship that is appreciated and adored by lots and lots of fans.
