Great to see Noel talk so fondly about the Be Here Now tour. I've seen hundreds of his interviews and he's pretty much dismissed it in every single one. Looking forward to the full version!

So do I. I like it when it was released and I still do now. It's too long, too many guitars, a couple of not great songs, but it's still a solid album and I listen to it a fair bit. Oasis made their worst music once Andy & Gem joined. Then it was just bland shite that wasn't Oasis.

I know this is 3yrs later... but ooofft. Widely regarded as one of their best EVER shows apparently. By the band themselves.... I was unfortunate enough to see em in Glasgow on that tour, the first night when they walked off after 10 songs... haha, then next night apparently played a blinder. Man... what a time

I'm sure someone's mentioned it already, but the Microdot channel revealed that they removed the Telephone Box not long before the album came out, so when they were deciding what should be on stage, the telephone box was still on the cover
@Wolfdragon925842 жыл бұрын
I think the sourness of that time period has ended, and Noel finally sees it not as just a cloudy haze, nor as a triumph, but simply as a product of its time. Exactly how the album is. It has its brilliance, but its image has been irreversibly damaged by overhype and the circumstances surrounding it.
@mywhychromosome Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think this is pretty spot on--especially given that a lot of his initial bitterness towards it was fueled by A. The same critics who initially lauded it slowly going, "....wait, no, it's shit", and Noel sort of going "hmmmm, maybe it IS shit then" (which, considering his famous ego, is actually kind of interesting in and of itself--the opinions of others do matter after all!), and also B. That he got sober almost immediately after that period. That'll have anybody second guessing everything they've been up to in the immediate period beforehand until you don't know which way is up

I can honestly say that Be Here Now despite the critical reviews is the perfect conclusion. The band on top of the world almost autobiographical in a band that is enjoying fame and the fortune of a band at the top. Excessive, indulgent and in my opinion not long enough. Love this album and an apbum that continue to listen to it from beginning to end.

Some people on here are being unfair.... Oasis were the biggest band in the world in 1996. From Oct 95' to Oct '96 they sold more albums than anyone else apart from Alanis Morrisette worldwide. Morning Glory was selling millions of copies in America and by the summer of '96 the album had sold over 4m copies in the US. Incidentally that is more than any album by any British band has sold with an album for 30 years. More than any Coldplay album, who is seen as being massive in America. So whatever anyone says Oasis were huge and this idea they weren't successful in America is pure ignorant bullshit.
@mywhychromosome Жыл бұрын
As an American around at the time, can confirm. I always bought and read imported British music mags to keep up on stuff, so I'd been into them from "Definitely Maybe", but once "Morning Glory" came out, they went from being my little cult band to where EVERYBODY had a copy, like it was a requirement. Interestingly, at the time, the song that was inescapable was "Don't Look Back In Anger", rather than "Wonderwall"

Imagine if the interviewer took it upon themself to take Noel or Liam's query of 'd'ya know what I mean?' every time they asked it. In his own right, Noel says it loads as well - and needlessly. Of course Liam fires it like bullets every 4 seconds. If you did a shot every time they asked it you'd be ossified in 2 minutes flat. Or less.
