I saw an interview with Beck and Page, both said Green was best british blues guitarist ever. When asked about Clapton, they replied " he made alot of money".

now 70 grew up in Boston. The Tea Party was my weekly go to. My high school band was J. Geils. The only band that could follow them was Mac. One sunday at the Cambridge commons the Harvard band and a guy walked up, plugged in and did 45 min. of Black Magic Women. This was when Peter was living with Zappa recorded "End of the Game" soon after.

Peter green was a musical genius! not only that, he is the greatest blues guitarist of his time IMO. I first heard his music in the late 60s and I still listen to it today 55 years later. RIP

Noel Gallagher is raving about the guitar playing on 'Oh, Well'. Yes, some absolutely ripping lead playing on that. But it isn't Green, it's young Danny Kirwan (even visible in the video). Green was generous to a fault - named his band after his rhythm section, was desperate to give away the bags of money he was making from record sales, brought young Kirwan in and gave him free rein in the writing stakes....and even let him do the lead playing on key tunes like 'Oh, Well'. This is not to detract from Green, just to point out that Danny Kirwan, who left this world not too long ago, was a killer talent who despite his massive contribution of tunes and playing to the band, has been overlooked in the eagerness by media and fans to focus on the stuff more suited for the tabloids.

Just like to point out , that Peter is playing a harmony lead to Danny, classic twin lead . Danny was a great player, no doubt but Peter's input to the guitar work on 'Oh well' was a 50/50 thing.

Saw Peter Green and his Fleetwood Mac live on stage, Marquee Club London, august 1967. Although the room was crowded it was a very intimite concert, an inspiring live experience. In my opinion Peter Green is one of the most gifted blues guitarists of all times. And he wrote and played huge hits like Oh Well, Albatros, Black Magic Woman (covered by Santana), Man of the world ...

I’m just going to say it, imo, Eric was first…a pioneer….but Peter’s tone and technique was far superior to Eric. I’ve listened to both, and it just was

With all due respect to the revolving door of musicians, who played with Mick and John,Peter Green's Mac,for many of us,was the only, Fleetwood Mac. Greenie sits in my top 3 sixties players...he just had it.... tone, structure, spacing, and timeless riffs. One of the best live bands ever. I have amassed every recording I can.....eventually you find the gems, such as a version of Rattlesnake Shake, where Danny Kirwan playing a Les,turns up the crunch,on the bridge....game changer. Peter, thanks for your gifts. I think BB King said it correctly.,.....

There was also a middle version of Fleetwood Mac ('70-'74) sandwiched between the Peter Green and the Buckingham/Nicks eras. They really were three distinct bands in those different eras. Great albums from the "2nd Mac": Future Games, Bare Trees, Mystery To Me, Penguin

Yes you said it , like liquid gold came out of Peter and we still love him 🌹 mostly in 69/70 what a special musican and man he was and we still sad and in rage on all people who helped to distroy him ,he never was same PG after all that terrible treatments he had to go through , only a shadow himself 🖤 , just to cry and we don't forget and we don't forgive , there are other ways to overcome the problems he had 💚💚💚

It is possible to admire Fleetwood Mac in all it's incarnations. I first heard them via Albatross, so inspired I did a painting which my Mum hung on her wall until she die. I heard Christine McVie (Perfect then) before I heard Mac, via I'd Rather Go Blind with Chicken Shack. The ultimate Mac with Nicks and Buckingham were massive, justifiably so. My most memorable hearing of that version was when I was working on a house in a seaside suburb, on a perfect day, in Auckland, New Zealand and in the house next door a bunch of youngsters were in the pool to the accompaniment of looping Fleetwood Mac.

Fleetwood Mac has never been as good as they were with Peter Green.. Most folk today think of the Stevie Nicks Fmac like the rumours album etc... Some of thst is OK but it's mostly too poppy and commercial for my liking... The original sound with Peter was far better.. When they were a stonking rock blues band

By far, much better. The tribal beats, guitars screaming for mercy, the whole vibe of a collective mix of rock and blues. Latter Fleetwood Mac was to syrupy and trite, in my opinion. Still played on my pirate radio station, along with Black Magic Woman and other songs. You won't hear this and lots of great tracks anywhere else on US radio. F the FCC!

Yeah those people kept spiking peters drinks with LSD-25 very potent. Peter wasn’t aware and the weekend fried him. I’m still so friggen mad at those people. It just hurt so much to see Peter not even aware of the whole situation. I’m so glad that Peter, Mick and the band did one stage show three days before Peter passed. ❤ R.I.P. Greenie

I'm curious, did Peter write Oh Well Pt 1 & 2 before he wrote Albatross or after? There's a sonic, textural connection between the two songs, and I was trying to figure out what it is.

Fleetwood Mac to me was the Peter Green version. I love some of the stuff by the ‘classic lineup’ of Fleetwood Mac; I just wish they’d considered themselves a completely different band and given themselves a new name.

I just cant think about anyone so forgettable to me as him - maybe only Gallagher. How come - when I was raised on Cream, Led Zep, Atomic Rooster, King Crimson and Jeff Beck - all that it late 60s/early 70s - and I dont miss anything ? The only one Green album I bought, forced by someone, is boring to death.

Peter Green solo albums happened after his breakdown. His best work was with Mayall and the early Mac. The more recently released two volume 'Live in 1967', which is drawn from what were originally bootleg tapes that have been cleaned up by Mayall, is very good. But yes, if you got a Peter Green album then you lost out.
