Vtubers learning how to use hand tracking is great stuff 😁 The lack of precision and hand/body coordination on the screen (as shown on the avatar) are always a riot. I wonder if there are gloves that can connect to the rig for more fine tuned tracking, including offscreen when the Holomem moves her hands away from the camera. And should they exist, whether or not they're a hassle to wear and operate.

From what I've seen from indie vtubers, who have done hand tracking in the past, the way they go about it to have hand tracking beyond what the LeapMotion (The most common hand tracker) can see, involves using Vive Trackers attacked to their arms or wrists. Which helps, but finger tracking still doesn't work outside of the camera.

As for fingers, it's why I thought of gloves, that way you can set a tracking node at the end of each finger that tracks their positions relative to the hand itself. Would be really accurate too, since fingers only have so much range of motion.

why do i feel that marine actually knew about the tracking and tried for a very long time so it would properly track her hands so it would show as if shes playing with her boobs. It's probably the difference between doing it in the studio and doing it in their homes. Can only speculate though.

Usually they use tracking equipment to record 3d stuff, but they've just been using camera tracking recently to use it at home without equipment and it really struggles with hands. I assume you need good lighting and clothes that contrast with your hands as well which may be why it varies between people.

I’m always surprised how bad the tracking is for all of hololives models, like they pretty much popularized the genre and after ALL this time they still can’t afford to get better equipment ?? Still looks janky asf I’ve seen some amazing tracking and this is not it

This isn't professional studio tracking, it's mocopi cheap DIY tracking. Their studio stuff is way better.
