This sounds like it's about growing up and trying to soldier on in the wake of betrayed expectations. Broken promises, lost direction, getting older and finding out the world isn't the wonderful place you thought it was. "catching the sun" sounds like soldiering on and trying to find a dream worth living for in a world that's let you down.

I like Oasis songs, but when i hear Noel's solo stuff i realize that he hasn't lost his touch, in fact, he has evolved and his music preserves that authenticity, honesty and transparency that comes from his soul. This guy born for this and is timeless.

At first he was dismissed, then came Def Maybe and he was lauded as a one-album wonder. Then came Morning Glory and he was praised as a songwriter, but set within his era. Then came Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and he was deemed one of the best British songwriters of all time. Then came the follow up albums and Oasis' legacy and he was considered one of the best songwriters of his generation. And then came the High Flying Birds' self entitled album and Noel was labeled a genius. And now, we have Chasing Yesterday; which has cemented Noel Gallagher as LEGEND.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds I keep on running but I can't get to the mountain Behind me lie the years that I misspent And I've been sinking like a flower in the fountain When all the love I'm gonna need is heaven sent Gonna try my best to get there But I can't afford the bus fare And the storm that's rolling over Man, it makes me wanna cry And I was told The streets were paved with gold And there'd be no time for getting old when we were young It's alright, if you dance with me tonight We'll fight the dying of the light and we'll catch the sun Woke up sleeping on a train that was bound for nowhere Echoes that I could hear were all my own The world had turned and I'd become a stranger And I'm tired of watching all the flowers turn to stone 'Cause I tried my best to get there But I can't afford the bus fare And the storm that's rolling over Man, it makes me wanna cry And the cold against my shoulder When it comes on in the winter And it seems to last forever And it makes me wanna, it makes me wanna cry I was told That the streets were paved with gold And there'd be no time for getting old when we were young It's alright, if you dance with me tonight We'll fight the dying of the light and we'll catch the sun Gonna try my best to get there But I can't afford the bus fare And the storm that's rolling over Man, it makes me wanna cry And I was told That the streets were paved with gold And there'd be no time for getting old when we were young It's alright, if you dance with me tonight We'll fight the dying of the light and we'll catch the sun But the cold against my shoulder When it comes on in the winter Man, it makes me wanna cry And the cold against my shoulder And it seems to last forever And it makes me wanna, it makes me wanna cry ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

+Robert Jones How can he be just a singer when he wrote literally every single song he sings?
Marianne Mesquita Now, when you say "God", do you mean Yahweh, the REAL God of Israel, or do you mean the singer AND songwriter from the rock groups Oasis and High Flying Birds, Noel Gallagher?? Because Yahweh can bless. But Noel eats, sleeps and shits like every other human being so therefore has no "blessing" powers.

Keep moving forward Noal, long after your gone these song's and this music is going to inspire generations. Will you please do a couple of Albums in Nashville, with some of those serious musician producers.
