I consider Noel Gallagher to be jolly decent and very iconic and prolific . He's certainly amongst a small number of outstanding lyricists of his era. Of course it's entirely subjective and a matter of personal preference;; the fact that their is no definitive correct way to view a record/artist etc. is surely one of music's great beauties. My utterly irrelevant opinion is that Noel is right up there but not alone, alongside him with superb lyrical gifts are, for me, the hugely talented , eloquent wordsmith, Doherty ; Ashcroft with his rare skill at conveying universal truth and using music as a tool to shine a figurative light upon themes that he feels are socially relevant (Oh and that voice!) a nd (admittedly a fair few years younger is Sheffield's finest) Aex Turner who has a unique and distinct style of writing lyrics which manages to be paradoxically almost chatty in style whilst brilliantly breaking your heart unexpectedly with a killer line amongst the colloquial style. Love and peace to all.💙👌.

@Linda NiemkiewiczLike fuck. He whinged non-stop and was dead at 27 His much admired grunge is enough to make my ears bleed. Your opinion is of course aa damn well vauable as mine, I'm just a nobody on KZbin. So Kurt for you. Fair play. My only thought is that he had no opportunity to mature... ergo; never had much time to develop. Examine Oasis’ back catalogue and Noels remarkable solo experimentaion. Folk romanticise a tragic loss like Cobain: Irrespective of whether he actually had talent.. Just my opinion.. Kindest regards to you; and indeed to all. Txx💙

Probably true. It's not about selling records, or the fact that he's playing a guitar. He's the last person to have been at the head of a rock-band and somehow made it completely mainstream. There's many indy bands, but during 1995-1997, they were gods in hte music world. What I like about Noel today, is that he doesn't give a **** anymore. He's got absolutely nothing to prove. So he doesn't need to "cater to the Oasis-crowd" anymore. Personally, I like his new album allot more than the last couple of Oasis albums.

I agree, altho the song laid bare like it is here is best understood by fans of Noel, fans who actually have some idea of good music and a wee bit of a brain. the album version has been produced to appeal to a larger audience, the younger market is the target for record labels now, they are the iPhone generation who still pay for music. I imagine that Noel will be advised to let the producers add a few pop bells and whistles, then wrap it up in a bow and market it to make money. the acoustic version is just for us, the Noel purists, the Noel fans

Well Noel was the principal songwriter in Oasis. Without him, they are nothing cause Liam can't write worth a flip. It now shows because Noel is putting his brother to shame with his solo work. Liam showing his arse by faking his sickness during an MTV Unplugged taping was the best thing that could have ever happened to Noel because it showed fans who the real genius was. Noel should do a whole concert tour of Oasis songs and call it the "Oasis: Liam's Still Sick" tour.

When Noel performs I just can't stop watching. I think to myself I'll put some NG on while I get some work done. Find myself sat here 20 minutes later and I haven't moved, just mesmerised by the singing and the lyrics.

This isn't the only Great Song that Noel has put out since Oasis split. Dude's got an amazing voice with Much to say. I feel like this is still a beginning.

I love this song, it makes me think of a dear friend who left this world at 37. He loved Oasis. I guess we all are trying to get some where. You cant help but feel you have been on a journey listening to Noel from Oasis to where he is now. A musical journey and a reality check are some times needed, He played a brilliant gig at the 02 on Tuesday 10th March 2015. Hope to see him a again soon

This guy is the reason I can play the acoustic guitar. So simple yet so effective. Amazing ringing harmony he gets from the higher strings is something that’s always stuck with me.

its the capo on the 3rd fret if u know how to play "whatever" or "songbird" play them like the original then put the capo on and u will get a very similar sound

Just how I'm seeing it, but Noel in this looks like he's really enjoying doing the song. Like I'm looking back over acoustic sessions he did to promote the last album but here he seems way more comfortable, sounds spot on vocally and looks like he's really grown into doing these sorts of sessions. Cut me some slack, it's nearly 4am where I am right now.

Up there with the Beatles mate, beautiful tune. Chasing Yesterday, his last LP, is a pinnacle so far in his career. I think it's a masterpiece. Everytime I put it on, I listen to it all the way through in one sitting, always. As one should, for it is to be savored like sipping a fine wine from the cellar.

Many of us fans have known this since 1996, when Liam walked out of an MTV Live taping of Oasis. Noel then carried the show as the front man. www.mtv.com/news/508128/oasis-singer-sits-out-mtv-unplugged-taping/ Search for the show here on KZbin, you'll be amazed at Noel's progress since then.

It's amazing to hear his songs broken down acoustically. Most of them seem complex but when played like this they seem simple. People often don't understand some the best songs are simple. Again most of his songs seem complex but they're relatively simple but still amazing.
