My favorite kind of hang gliding-----ridge soaring! I flew in Santa Barbara and ridge soared Wilcox over Hendry' Beach in Santa Barbara. I also enjoyed taking off from the Eliminator, gaining altitude thru catching thermals and then flying to the beach near the pier. I would usually fly out over the end of the pier with several thousand feet, do some wing overs to burn off altitude and then land a few hundred feet from the pier. The view flying over SB was spectacular! Thanks Ken DeRussey for taking me in as a handicapped student, teaching me, and letting me enjoy some of the best times in my life!!
