not into most NOFX stuff from the 90s, moreso mid-90s, especially their newer stuff BUT i enjoy their 1984-87 stuff aswell as their "animal liberation" 1988/"s&m airlines" 1989 albums, pretty much the "maxium rock n roll" comp/mystic records years but they lost me with the softee jokey 90s epitaph "skate punk" shit. too each his own but i respect them showing homage to their hardcore roots here. a sin34 cover is definitely a cover by a group of people who actually saw them live in their short existance in the early-mid 80s. a urban waste & batalion of saints cover, fuck yeah!!!

This EP is like a punk version of thrash metallers Municipal Waste. Fucking love it.
@search8957 жыл бұрын
' fizicks Well this is just like old school hc sounds. Municipal Waste are old school thrash crossover but the the right affirmation would be "municipal waste sound like this but more metal" better, cause that's the natural progression. Bad brains and Minor threat were already playing like this right before the first thrash metal records appeared. Thrash metal exists half because of old school punk.

' fizicks This Nofx album is a cover ep. All are old hardcore punk songs from the early 80s. It was dirty an unprofessional yet passionate. It became a main influence in thrash metal. Pioneer thrash bands like Metallica or Slayer were fans of punk. And then came crossover, which is thrash with an extra hardcore punk again in it.

If you think this is a good record by NOFX you should listen to the original artists. To me NOFX were always a second-rate clown band and were never on the level of real Punk and Hardcore Punk bands (like the ones they covered here). They do sound good here, though. I wonder why they didn't cover MDC. Maybe they didn't like it when Dave called them out on their song "Timmy Yo".
@GloriaLopez-sh1jc6 жыл бұрын
Because that song is so slow and bored it's not hardcore all in all nofx is Still more famous than MDC that's the reality truepunk asshole
@RobbKong9995 жыл бұрын
As much as I enjoy NoFX's material, this is sadly one of my favorites of theirs. I say sadly because I knew it was covers (the Battalion of Saints, Agnostic Front and Necros covers gave it away for me). However, it did get me to explore the other bands that were covered here. I really like the older Hardcore stuff this band put out (despite Fat Mike disavowing it). This is a further staple in that style. I hold this in high regard like I do Aglio e Olio by Beastie Boys. So, you're giving good advice here.

@@xp7575 Everybody has heard of NoFx. Their only good stuff was their early material when (by their own admission) were copying RKL. A lot of commenters here (including you) don't know the songs here were covers. There is no record NoFx put out that was equal to Urban Waste, Rebel Truth, Necros, Sin 34, Social Unrest, etc. etc. There is your point of view, poser.
@chrisfurius2 жыл бұрын
This is so generic, by-the-numbers I have no words. Listen the the urgency and inspired chaos of Rebel Truth's original version(just for one example) and tell me how this isn't utter garbage.
