Sometimes I wonder about these bands who play the same songs for years and years and years and how they can keep the fun going on. And then I realise I've been listening to them for twenty years. A good song is a good song is a good song. Great to see them opening with good old bangers. I'll never stop loving this band.

That's the beauty of punk rock in general... (I know this is gonna come off as me being overly dramatic/romantic, and I hate myself for doing it, but I have to agree with what I heard Mike say recently in an interview somewhere) It is hands down the greatest kind of music! Everything from old school punk to hardcore, quirky pop punk to more serious power pop, melodic hardcore to ...sigh, "emo", etc. etc. usually the bands are doing it from a place of needing/wanting to express themselves, and not because of contractual obligations. Apparently some bands didn't really know how to play, but I just hear great songs that rarely age poorly. It obviously struck a chord with us because we're all still here, and I can't think of a single band I stopped listening to because I "grew out of it", but I'm also not blindly following bands because of their past work, genre, or record label. Let's say a certain band, that shall remain nameless, were really good at one point but fell apart. Well, I'd just listen to everything from "hate your friends" through "lovey", and ignore the rest (see, you can respectfully shit all over a band, and nobody gets hurt👍). But seriously, out of all the bands I love that are still around, very few of their newer albums are good (meaning at least half the songs on the album are decent), and while it's not realistic to expect Jimmy eat world to crank out Bleed American 2 at 60 years old, a slightly watered down clarity 2 isn't unreasonable (and I'll buy that album if it has 30-40% good songs), but unfortunately we're not getting that kind of quality anymore, so I'm stuck searching for old stuff I missed the first time around in the 80s and 90s, and praying all the bands will start releasing songs that never made the album for some crazy reason *cough- Jets to Brazil "afterhour perfection -cough*, or even demos for all the songs that are on the album (I'd kill to hear demos for anything from that time, but the jawbreaker, jets to brazil demos that have popped up over the last few years were just incredible). Ok, I think I've gone on long enough, I apologize for having diarrhea of the keyboard again.

Punk in Drublic was the album of my youth, much love NOFX.
@NS1.3 жыл бұрын
Same here. When I was like 15 in 1995, a friend of mine turned me on to it. I had never even heard of the band before, so it kinda blew me away. Then I ended up turning it on to like 4 or 5 other friends of mine. Several of them ended up loving NOFX more than me because of that album. So yea, Punk In Drublic had quite an effect on so many people. Lol, we had this little thing we did...when we were all hanging out and if there was a lull in the conversation, one of us out of nowhere would yell "FRIDAY NIGHT, WE'LL!.."..then the rest of we would continue in unison: "..BE DRINKING MANISCHEWITZ..." It was more fun and funnier than it sounds, you had to be there, lol.

@@AlexanderJAllen It helps the overall sound of the music for sure, but I doubt they have autotune on the fly? I specifically meant it is difficult to sing harmonies over very loud music as it's difficult to hear exactly what's going on (compared to acoustic instruments, for example).

@@meadish No, they're definitely diligent singers, no question.
