That's probably why so many indie games are stylized. :)

zelda: link why do you look so creepy when you're realistic link: well excuuuuuuuse me princess
@demian5631 Жыл бұрын
I think even just something as simple as making him blink would have helped a lot in the creepiness department. From somewhat far away (like a meter or two) it looks fine, it's just the closeup that is uncanny central.
@bobross9370 Жыл бұрын
@@demian5631 I think actual anatomy for a realistic style character would have helped more.
@demian5631 Жыл бұрын
@@bobross9370 That's debatable, I think either going more realistic or slightly more cartoony would have been the say to go.
@bobross9370 Жыл бұрын
@@demian5631 Yeah, but I'm getting mixed signals when he says he's going for a realistic aesthetic and then he's "copying 1:!" Links stylized appearance. It seems as though he was expecting the face scan texture to carry the overall sculpt which is never the case. He just needs more anatomical knowledge.
@demian5631 Жыл бұрын
@@bobross9370 Well the problem with link is that he is so inherently stylised that if you were to go 100% realistic no one would recognize him. Still, I think find a 3d headscan and then *slightly* altering it would have created the best result. No matter how advanced your knowledge of anatomy is, you can't get better than the real thing (3d scan).

NGL, I'd love a detailed tutorial on rigging, preping and exporting characters to UE5 from blender. I've seen a few but they are usually unclear and incomplete. One thing i always get hung up on is should I take the ue skeleton to blender and back so i can more easily retarget animations that come with ue5, or should I just use a blender rig and make animations myself (or is it easy to retarget the blender rig inside ue5 with ue animation). I have no idea if you know the answer to these questions.
@Noggi_3D Жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know the answer to that. Before I had Auto-Rig Pro, which can do everything you mentioned, I used mixamo to rig and animate my characters. I've never tried using the UE rig. :)

At least now I know what Link would look like if taken from a stylised game to such a realistic game. Oh and thanks for showing that hair in Unreal Engine. I swear I didn't know that feature existed there, But now I know. And just a quick question: did you use Marvelous Designer for the clothes? Because the interface made me think of this program

I have only used blender a bit so this may not be right. When baking textures in blender you can choose to bake colours, normal maps e.t.c. I'm assuming he baked normal maps and colours and applied the textures and alpha to a different object.
@Noggi_3D Жыл бұрын
I set the bake mode to "Normal" and enabled "bake from multires" with the output to a new Image Texture. The bake then combines the normal map of the shader with the multiresolution modifier displacement into a new normal map. :)
