You can just about make out the wires when Dean and Terri come in through the window. Must’ve been really uncomfortable in that harness, but they owned it. 👌🏻👌🏻

Thanks for uploading this. I love this show! :-) I like to think I know a lot about special effects, but that little collision at 1:55 took me completely by surprise!

I remember good take off and landing from Superboy TV series. Why didn’t they bring that team to Lois and Clark series?
@reidmason25514 жыл бұрын
WB wanted a clean break from the Salkinds. It's one of the reasons they had SUPERBOY canned to make way for LOIS & CLARK, and it's definitely one of the reasons the Salkinds were replaced on what became SUPERMAN RETURNS with Jon Peters and his parade of freak show partners for 13 years of development hell. And if WB wasn't going to work with the Salkinds again, they certainly weren't going to use their FX team, either. Since you brought up SUPERBOY having better takeoffs and landings, that show also had much better Superman costumes as well. Dean Cain's Supersuits were a huge downgrade in quality, which wasn't fair to him at all.

If you notice most of those special effects were done in the first season or two, but as the show started to get older. They said that the special effects were costing a lot of money and they went away from that. I didn't particularly care for that. I really felt like it was a good show at the start. But there were some episodes where Superman didn't even show up in the episode or when he did. It was just a close up of his cape flapping in the wind to give the illusion he was taken off. Shame on the directors producers and people in charge you totally ruined a good show.
@reidmason25514 жыл бұрын
The cape flap-takeoff scenes were the pits. George Reeves' springboard-propelled leaps over the camera in the '50s looked infinitely better, simply because Superman was actually leaving the ground. Why WB didn't just go back to the springboard method -- which had been used in classic films like Errol Flynn's ROBIN HOOD -- to do Superman's takeoffs again still baffles me. LOIS & CLARK made a lot of bizarre creative and technical choices that didn't make sense at the time, much less in retrospect.

Sad part is that Dean’s career was almost destroyed by Him playing Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman. I think He was typecast after that.

Lois And Clark has bad visual effects, the lead actor is bad and the soundtrack is bad. It's very lacking in self-criticism to make a promotional video about the show. But anyway, Superman on television never had a good adaptation. Smallville was unbearable. It's not about the money, it's about the talent of the producers/directors. For example, is it that difficult to find a good music composer among millions of people to make a decent soundtrack? It's inexplicable, nobody can beat a movie made in the 70's (Donner). People are supposed to learn from experience. I just can't understand.
