Haven't tried Pure Tonka yet but Noir Extreme had that old lady vibe that instantly sent me back in the day when your grandmother wore that loud scent to church and it would make you hold your breath when she came in for a hug.

I own both and agree! Pure Tonka is not for the feint of heart, very strong and easy to over spray! I prefer Noir Extreme as its just really lovely to smell, women also dig it which is a bonus!

Loved your comment about autumn vs. winter, and jacket vs coat -- that speaks volumes. I have Noir Extreme but prefer it for Calif winters. Also have the Noir pour Femme version which is very similar and has more light amber and kulfi. Ordered Pure Coffee last week after having a decant. I can see why u say that about Rochas Man...Cool comparison...I smelled the female version of Noir Extreme and I liked it but i preferred The men's version because the men's version doesn't have the perfumey vibe the female version has...I don't mind crossover fragrances or scents made for women that a man can pull off but I prefer the men's version to the female version in this instance.

I just bought pure malt yesterday. However I really fell in love with Tom Ford Noir Extreme. I'm thinking about going back to the store to grab that Extreme. I like that you test it on your skin and you also cover the drydown part. Own Ultra Zest, Pure Havane and Malt but passed on Tonka even though I liked it because it is not practical where I am at. I am not sure why I have not tried Noir Extreme yet so will have to do it asap. What's the performance on your skin? Oh, I tried Bottled Intense EDP and it went straight to my top 5 to buy list. And boy it does perform 10+ hours on skin 14+ hours on clothes! To me it made the the OG Bottled, Intense EDT, etc. obsolete. Thanks, E!

My bad This wasn't a full fledged review so I didn't go into detail...But Pure Tonka lasts on me for like 12+ hours and on cloth for days strong in both sillage and projection...Noir Extreme lasts 6 hours on me and for the final 4 hours it's very close to the skin. It's an intimate scent not meant to alert your presence...But anyone who comes close to you like your significant other will likely appreciate it alot. And I'm glad that u like the Intense EDP too...It is a huge hit for me also...

Totally disagree Terrance...Practically a third of the scents made for men are either more feminine than black orchid or is in a similar place on the gender scale ,objectively speaking. To me Black Orchid is more appropriate for men than Dior Homme and I love both. Your nose knows what best for you though...

I've had women smell Black Orchid as well and they all say it's on the feminine side. Smells like a perfume an Old lady would wear to my nose. U can get 5ml atomizers for cheap on ebay and just take ur weak scents with you without stress...Longevity used to mean so much more to me but now smell matters more than performance. Halston Man Amber is a scent that lasts for like 3-5 hours and it smells so good to me that it doesn't matter...lol...And like i said if u take a decant out with u during the day u can always add more when needed...It's not that much of a chore at all...Way worth the little hassle to smell like your favorite smelling, weak performing scents...

Pure Tokna is a bomb...Noir extreme is Well made but much more quiet...Both are very good and U can always decant Noir Extreme and take it with you and spray it when it dies down as u wear it. So to be honest I'd say both are awesome options...

Pure Tonka is an excellent fragrances. I wore it the other day (forgot about it since last Fall) and it killed both in compliments and performance. I still prefer Pure Malt and Pure Havane, but this one is top-notch. As for Noir Extreme...it's one of the best smelling fragrances out-of-the-bottle, but it the drydown is not quite as nice and performance is shit, which is why I didn't purchase a bottle. Enjoyed the review!

What's up Jim...Thanks for sharing your experiences brother...Im starting to have a don't care attitude about performance now if the scent is nice. Smell trumps performance for me anyday. When u have as many bottles as we do, finding any excuse to wear them more often isn't a bad thing. Short lived scents lets me wear more than one scent in a day sometimes...For example I can start my day with reformulated Fahrenheit and then add Infusion D'homme as it dies. The smells complement each other 2. Another thing is I bought a crapload of empty glass 5ml atomizers so I can just take re ups of a weak scent with me. It's not a real chore to do and empty bottles are cheap. So i don't let performance affect my purchasing decisions like i did before. There is a place imo for moment fragrances that only last for the moments u need them for.

I had the same problem spraying with my 1st use of Pure Tonka just this morning. When I finally did get it, I over sprayed and had to wipe some of it off with paper towels. That's gotta be the worst sprayer out of the 4 I own.

The people at Mugler bug me out...If I knew my sprayer made a great fragrance like Pure Tonka a stress to use, I would've went back to the drawing board for a better more flexible material for the bottle. That vinyl casing is the worst ever and is a crazy finger print magnet...the bottle isn't worthy of the juice within it.

hi E !!!!! big question >>> Which from the Mugler line does not end up smelling like vanilla in the dry dry dry dry down? I mean, I ve been experimenting with only the original A/MEN and after 18 / 24 hours or so it just leaves a smell of vanilla on the place i ve applied it. I[m just experimenting on how long they actually last without cleaning that area i apply it on. For example... My Sauvage is linear all the way through and after 28 hrs it just doesn t leave a trail of anything... just dissapears. So I am wondering which Mugler actually doesn t leave a vanilla (residue) after those hours.... cuz i kinda don t like it. thank you so much E !!!!
