Noise coming from car is gone when clutch is pressed

All that happens when you change clutch correct ! Some clutches have a plastic cap on the middle around the hole and some not, the ones have the plastic cap on the middle around the hole are the appropriated to use because when the clutch is in movement that plastic cap makes the clutch work smooth no clicks or bangs when moving, now that ones have no plastic cap around the hole are working metal with metal are very noisy when in movement, that’s why the noise goes away when clutch pressing or when de car is in movement. On neutral also very noisy .

I’ve had mine replaced recently and it has a slight knocking noise when I’m parked and release the clutch. If I push it back in and release it slow it goes away. Should I be worried ? I have a 2003 VW Jetta it’s a light knock but aside of sounding not so good it only happens sometimes

Same exact issue in my dodge neon ever since the clutch was replaced. It does it mainly when it's cold, once it warms up it goes away.

@@askim1903 Do you still have this problem? Was it fixed? As what I've known with this type of problem, it's the Input Shaft Bearing in the transmission. When the car is in Neutral and clutch pedal is not pressed, it is that bearing. It goes away when pressed.

I got my clutch replaces today, and I encountered this problem too, I am gonna go tommorow back to mechanic to find out why this happent, just mine does not make any sounds when driving only when my car is idling but if I press clutch in it goes away, and only occurs, when rpm's bellow 1k, so by what I see its flywheel or input shaft bearing I guess, this probably occured because mechanic did not adjust clutch properly after putting a new clutch.

My suggestion to grashoppers singing their clutch fork cricket song, or even playing the big boys drums noise is: Point 1: When the pilot bearing is bad, the noise will come as the clutch is pressed in to start the rolling. Point 2: I assume your clutch fork is shaking like hell until you slightly press on the clutch pedal and it goes all silent. Point 3: Before it get this bad, check if there is a missing coil spring to hold your clutch fork all way back. Point 4: Try to lubricate the clutch fork at any contact point with heat reistant grease from outside of the gearbox. Point 5: Sorry for you, I guess the gearbox has to go out for a full replacement of it all if none of this will do for you.

Hi, quick question mate, I can hear tapping noise coming from engine area when in motion on my ford custom van. But it completely disappears when I press clutch regardless of how much I rev. Obvious opinion from tapping noise seems loose timing chain but would that not be constant noise and be unaffected when I press clutch or wen stationary?

I bet that it is the input shaft bearing. I have the same noise and I replaced the clutch. If it was the release bearing you would hear it when you had pressed the clutch.

Release bearing makes noise in action only when clutch is engaged i.e. clutch pedal is not depressed. I believe input shaft bearing pilot bearing makes noise only during clutch disengagement i.e when clutch pedal is depressed. BTW in my case replacing suspected throw away bearing got me rid of the noise.

That's not necessarily so, I just had a new clutch put on. And all the parts you need come with the kit. And it still makes a squeaking noise while idling in neutral, but it stops whenever I step on the pedal

Yea. My golf had the exact problem. Noise disappears when clutch pedal is pushed down. I replaced the whole deal, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. Noise went away.

Toyota club on and turn the engine manually with the clutch not pressed then when it is pressed and turn your tires manually and lesson for noise and if you do a full clutch service check your transmission shaft splints on the shaft and get some byscips AND put them on the trany shaft and rock it back and forth and up and down and look for meatel shavings in the gear box oil try that

Vishwa Rychuri it's your gearbox problem.. your gearing bearing that lock and shift gear ratio when you shift has worn out thats why it makes sound and grinding.. need to open the gearbox to change that small part, be prepared for cost.
