Thanks for your video. I stopped using DXO PureRaw since Adobe released their own AI denoise. It’s very good and the lens corrections are more than acceptable in most circumstances.

DxO used to be my primary software some day, but Lightroom won its place a couple of years ago when Adobe rocketered with its software and left others behind.

@@dominiclester3232I'm a big C1 fan myself, but noise reduction is definitely not its strong point. I use Dxo for that.

Peter at 8:31 you advise that you can reload Ver 3.7 even if you have previously downloaded a trial version. Not so. This is a reply i received after reaching out to DXO and unsuccessfully loading Ver 3.7 Riley (Support & Assistance) Nov 9, 2023, 5:51 PM GMT+1 Greetings, DxO PureRAW 3.7 is not a new version, it is simply a new build, therefore if you have already used the trial, there is no way to run it again on the same computer, our apologies. If you have access to another computer, you are welcome to request a new trial. regards, Riley - DxO Labs Support Team

I will contact DxO because they had this info in the heads up email that I got: "PureRAW3.7 will be released to the public on the 7th November 2023 We will be resting the trial period so users can retrial the software. This will also mean affiliates can encourage users to retry the software." Sorry for the trouble. I will get back to you.

Previous Noise reduction methods Hi Peter thanks for the video! I had the same issue that I those two methods of Noise Reduction are gone. They are not! Its in the settings somewhere, saying something if you want to activate previous, older NR methods. Default is no, but I wanted it, cause they are much, much faster, and much more gentle to the image. I use them if I want to squeeze out more sharpness in daylight / well -lit situations. Maybe the lens correction is the important part there. .... Downloaded 3.7 today, I wonder if I see difference Yes Settings in the DxO PR programme, not plug-in, last line ... The charm of handing the pictures over from LrC to DxO PR was that you could go on working in LrC while getting your images processed (can easily take minutes). Hope that still works.

Hello Peter. What do you think with the AI Denoise of Lightroom ? Is it worth it to buy PureRaw 3.7 to have a small extra quality? Thank you.
@ForsgardPeter Жыл бұрын
Noise reduction AI in Lightroom is very good. In my opinion it gives slightly more natural looking images. Removing noise DxO is better. DxO can also improve the image quality using AI. Lightroom does not use AI for other improvements.

Is it a plugin or stand alone software?
@ForsgardPeter11 ай бұрын
Both. It works as a standalone software and as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Capture One Pro and Affinity Photo.

Hi Peter, do you know if Dx0 does work based on GPU or CPU? I was very impressed with what I saw of AI noise reduction with Lightroom, but it takes half an hour to process a photo and the GPU usage is very high.
@godsinbox Жыл бұрын
Dxo is optimised to use the fastest processing available on your hardware. Obviously a new Mac is much better than your mum's email computer. Always consider megapixel count of your camera, silly to have 45mp photos of your cat loading up your processing!

KZbin's ads are completely asinine and make watching even great content like yours almost impossible.
@ForsgardPeter Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear. I know they are not that nice. The problem is that content creators make free content and getting at least som,e money is crucial. You can use KZbin Premium or what it is called to have no ads.

I understand. I wish that youtube would allow creators more control over advertisers. The world is going down the toilet, but at least we'll record it, right.@@ForsgardPeter

There's just too much obsession about noise reduction these days. I do not find any issues with noise even at 1600 ISO with my EM5ii. If I think it is impacting on IQ, I simply apply just enough NR with whatever software I am using and I'm good. Image quality is much more than NR. It is about lighting, composition and critically how the image conveys the aesthetics that I am looking for. Sometimes, noise (it used to be grain in film) is good for what I am conveying.
@KrunoslavStifter Жыл бұрын
DXO DeepPrime is demoseicing, lens corrections, and denoising. They also offer simulation of film grain if you want. That being said, yes lighting, composition, gesture etc remain the king.
@TL-xw6fh Жыл бұрын
@@KrunoslavStifter Back in the days of film, we were much less concerned about lens correction. Today we call these as characterful lenses and are much sought after by digital camera users!
@KrunoslavStifter Жыл бұрын
@@TL-xw6fh Yes. But also Film was generally far more forgiving in that sense, while problems in the digital world are more easily seen. To your point, I sometimes apply film simulations, along with grain, softness, halation, CA etc, to give lens some personality or to hide mistakes. Dehancer plug in for example offers all that. But sometimes you need clean as possible, corrected as possible files. For example I sometimes photograph paintings for sale, and you don't want anything but the painting being most faithfully presented in the photos. And that is the thing. With product or landscape photography you might need digital, clean, clinical look, while with portraits or something artistic like street B&W photography you might go in the other direction. With film you had what you had. And that was it. In digital you can have it both ways. So there is that advantage.
