UA have definitely proven when they do the amp in the box thing, they generally nail it, so that isn't a surprise. The homerun move and whoever thought of it and made sure it was executed should get a bonus...the going into every detail so you can create YOUR Dumble as if you were consulting and getting one fine tuned to you. What a stroke of genius.

That would be James Santiago at UA. Dude is a genius with modeling.

I like how most settings preserve the pick attack and have good note separation when playing chords. Sounds really good in all the demos I've heard, including this one. Thanks!

That looks like an early-mid 80’s 335. I have an ‘82 that looks pretty identical. What a guitar!

Good demo. I have been a Dumble Dreamer for decades now. I just kept manifesting to the Universe to own one - or at least be able to touch one just once. But now... The Enigmatic has answered my dreams. Sort of. But it's such a great and perfect pedal for UA to tackle! Trust UA to be crazy & brave enough to come out with a pedal that emulates all the features of a Dumble! Close enough for me. Even before I have mine! It's on order and due for pickup in a few days and I can't wait. I actually have a friend who owns a Dumble. (True story!) He doesn't advertise the fact for obvious reasons and he and his son use it exclusively for session work. Who can blame them? Such a shame that those who are fortunate enough (and stinking rich enough!) to afford one can't even use them in public without having their own 24/7 security team. Now, I can pretend that I own a Dumble. Maybe even 2 if I like the 1st one (Enigmatic). This is exciting. Again, great demo. I liked & subscribed. BTW, you are a very tasty player. Cheers & regards from Stratford, Ontario, Canada

Yeah, true, you don't know me...... I played a few originals because I also repaired them.... the original dumble overdive special (I fixed 4th gen amps - classic electric voicing). A real dumble cut right trough the mix....I wouldn't say it is trebly, but very bright. The "thick creamy tone known from Robben Ford is also made because of the external active fx loop and the cables from and to this "Dumblelator" which causes a natural high frequency roll off......one thing which ia a very nice feature of a Dumble amp, the hughe dynamic range of the overdrive channel - you can roll down the volume at your guitar from full blasting overdrive to almost clean tone without loosing any definition and roundness in your tone - a good simulation will do exactly that.....try it ;)

I'm waiting for a pedal that has JVM JC made hundred and a jubilee all in one pedal. That would be amazing
@pacocasanovas16053 ай бұрын
HRM stands for"hot rod marshall" and has a better controlof the overdrive when playing chords.The drive stage has an additional tonestack (preset tone stack) in the circuit which has a similar frequency responce to the Marshall type tonestacks.

OK, it’s already been said a thousand times that we don’t all have a Dumble amp to compare this pedal to, so you can use that to say something negative or…listen to the people who have played Dumbles over the years and compare the sound, or just listen to the pedal itself and see if you just like the sound for what it is. But also, based on the track record of Universal Audio and James Santiago - the creator of these pedals - I’m pretty sure it’s a nice faithful recreation of the Dumble ODS.

I agree with you, this one is gonna be hard to tell how accurate it is. Based in the Dream, Lion, Woodrow, and Ruby which I have played the amps they model, I'm gonna guess it's very, very close. But in this case it's gonna come down to whether or not it's a tone I like. It sounds really good (great playing by the way), but I'm not certain I need it. The Dream, Lion, and Woodrow all kind of cover the tones that I would aim for with this. I will probably get it though just because I love the other pedals they make. I'm hoping they make a Mesa Mark series into a pedal (and let you pick which model).

I’m with you 100% on the Mesa Mark in a pedal! I’ve owned Mark series amps all my life - over the last 30 years - and would love nothing more than to add that to the collection! This Enigmatic is pretty awesome, regardless of not having a personal reference of having played a Dumble.

Honestly, Dumble circuit is similar to Fenders, with some notable exceptions. The thing is, those exceptions can be achieved with an analog pedal, as long as you have a nice Fender amp model for the output (like Dream, or the Fender amp in the Walrus ACS-1). Honestly, I get a great tone with an analog Dumble pedal and my ACS-1 on the Fender setting. I don’t need this box 🤷♂️

Is it more flexible/practical than the Dream65 with the clean headroom, the EQ and overdriven sounds ?

What other amps would you like UA to emulate in a pedal? Let us know in the comments. ⬇

All the discussion is about " is it accurate? Dunno, never tried one". How about just judging the tone for what it is. Is it something that gets you to the tone you want?

It sounds good, but it doesn’t sound like a real tube amp. The ML plugin model (on sale for 50 Euro right now) is much more realistic, and has a rounder tone. (Opinion)
@marcuslewis8890Ай бұрын
UA stays true to the amps they are modeling. The ODS is a tweaked amp. Dumble tweaked the amps to fit the players. UA has held true to this in the Enigmatic as well. It would miss the point to create an ODS that didn’t have a lot of tweakability.

I believe you, your insurrection if I put the amp that they're trying to reproduce the dumble and did a blindfold test with anybody and I mean anybody. They wouldn't guess which is which. Sorry it's a mythological amp. It started out with like $50,000 and now they're like $250,000 be my guest. I can reproduce all of these tones with amps. Couple pedals. It's all BS. They did a good job on the ruby. They did a good job on the dream but come on guys please this is BS
@evenstephen20003 ай бұрын
Your whole rant sounded like sour grapes BS…for no reason. 😅😂🤣 Hilariously negative. Then don’t buy any of these “BS” pedals if you hate them that much. I think UAFX will survive financially. Every single one of their pedals has been a pretty great achievement. Doesn’t mean they are for everyone, but they are definitely not crap. Too funny someone gets this passionate about hating a pedal! 🤣😆
