I have a Siemens IQ300 and I just started getting the bearing noise. It is about 4 or 5 years old. The service centre told me when noise gets worse replace the full drum set. This video was of great help when recently the bearings went in my IQ700 it was 10 years old and had never broken down. The bigger bearing was in a terrible state, the ball bearings had started to come out. It was a devil to get out but I did it. The limescale was awful but it looked nearly new after a lot of cleaning. Machine is now back together and working. If it does another 5 years I'll be happy. Also replaced the pump as well. Thanks very much.

Guys coming from service companies always try to force entire drum replacement even for a machine of just 3 years old saying all sorts of non-sense to rip off a higher charge for service but is clear here how only a bearing can be the reason for drum noise due to rubbing.

11k views and not even a snarky comment? Wait, I think I just made one.. So I just finished the job with the help of this video. I'm a pretty handy mofo, I must say, and I've got most any tool one might want, if I can just find them. Had already been in there to replace the water pump a few months ago. Even so, the thought of splitting the drum was probably the most fearsome proposition for me. Meh. It goes pretty straightforward, and with a little gentle prying side to side of the ample pinch points, it comes right apart. I did place a meager bead of silicone on reassembly, IMO o-rings exhibit a little compression after some 15 odd years... a few scrap 2x4s come in very handy for this project. I used a one to drive the new bearings flush, then used the old bearing as the perfect size to drive home the new one without damaging it. I didn't remove the soap tray, just weaseled my way around it on disassembly. If you have a family member (or a thirsty crony that your wife disapproves of hanging around), it does help to have them help with the re-install of the tub assembly, as it's a bit unwieldy. Definitely remove the cement counterweights. I'll sign off now, before this comment becomes more tedious than the job itself. I actually felt a sense of great accomplishment on completion of this project. I figured even a scratch and dent machine goes at least $800-$1000, so where could I get paid close to $200 per hour for my labor? Turns out, right in my own basement, just a few steps from the refrigerator always stocked with my favorite forms of re-hydration! Enjoy the fruits of your labors my friends!

sry, a couple other thoughts. I did the trick of putting the bearings in the freezer for a couple hours. I do think it helped on the press fit, also a little vaseline never hurts on the receiving end, or so I've been told LOL. Also, I marked hashmarks on the tub with a sharpie pen (before disassembly) to help with lineup on reassembly, put colored tape on a hose connection here and there. Machine is a 2005 Siemens WFXD5200 UC for reference. Use your judgement on what needs to be removed for clearance, pretty much everything mentioned, except the soap tray, oh and I just removed the water pump hose at the pump, and left the hose assy attached to the drum, saved a few steps there, but it needs a little jockeying going in and out. Also, I removed the drum out the front of the machine, FYI. Now I just have to figure out how to convince the ol' lady into spending the savings on a Kayak. Maybe a couple hours in the freezer would make her a little easier to work with?

Great video. What size threaded bar did you use and what was the diameter of the washers?

Hi i have a siemans iq100 the bearings are gone i followed your video on the iq700 and have the case out that houses the drum but the iq100 has no screws or bolts how do i separated the casing to get the drum out so can replace the bearings i searched your channel but can't find anything on the siemans iq100. This is a really hard one to answer because first you have the location that you live in and then it depends on the engineer that you employ when I was doing this for customers. My labour charge would be between 80 and £100 but I was not expensive.
