I think I’m a little OCD with audio. I bounce between my audiophile DAC/Amp set up with flac files and vinyl records, so the noise always annoys me lol this seems to work great and only takes a few mins. Makes you work for the music too so it’s more enjoyable haha

I personally avoid anything that could leave a residue on my stylus or on my records. My personal routine is using a Pro-Ject carbon fiber brush before playing each side of a record along with running the Pro-ject Sweep It during record playback. I also use a Hudson Hi-Fi UV Stylus Cleaner to clean my stylus and run problem records on an Okki Nokki One record cleaning machine. The combination works fantastic.

Very informative. I also own the UberLight Flex from Reliable Corporation and it’s a game changer for me... okay, I own the company so I’m a little biased ;-) I picked up the Furutech Destat III earlier this week and it’s been fantastic for removing static. It gets very dry in my house and the static problem seemed to be unsolvable... and I’ve tried just about everything. This device was worth every penny (it ain’t cheap). I hope that helps anyone with the same problem.

Nice video. There’s a controversy with the Onzow zero dust. Wally Tools claim it leaves a residue on the stylus that is very difficult to remove and degrades the sound. I don’t use my zerodust any more. I use a dry carbon stylus brush and also occasionally use an ultrasonic brush I’ve had since the 80’s that works really well for an extra clean. There’s a more recent version on the market by flux Hi-Fi. Also, word of warning-don’t use liquid stylus cleaners. They can damage the coils, suspension etc in the body of the cartridge.
@VinylforMiles
@VinylforMiles Жыл бұрын
Yeah I heard about that, I never noticed a difference using the zero dust but I used it sparingly and I don’t have a microscope to inspect the damage haha I stoped using it as well after this video came out.

Very helpful as always. I did not know that about the carbon brush. Are you really not supposed to use soap on the Onzow stylus cleaner? I’ve been using mild dish detergent to clean it. Amazing what that gel picks up!
@VinylforMiles
@VinylforMiles 3 жыл бұрын
They recommend only warm water on both the Onzow zero dust and rollers. Soap can reduce the stickiness but how much not sure. I’m sure you’re fine :)

I have the black version of the UberLIght and it is definitely worth the money. You don't realize how much junk is on your record without good lighting. There are many videos concerning that stylus goo and how it's not a good idea to use them as they can create a build up of gunk that is hard to remove. Just use a stylus brush to remove any dust bunnies. Some people swear by the Zero Stat to remove static but I got tired of the tedious routine and replaced it with a Destat III. It is way over priced but it's worth it to avoid the time and hassle of a Zero Stat, with is also over priced. Pops and clicks on vinyl is only a problem with abused records and for people who don't understand how to handle them. Mine are just as quiet as a CD unless I somehow made a mistake.

Zero dust leaves a residue on the stylus ,roller also leaves a residue, I use a project brush for the stylus ,vacuum cleaner the record ,ultra sonic bath for the rinse ,zero stat the record then play jobs a gooden

I specifically have two 45s that have nothing but surface noise throughout. One is come on Eileen and the other is last kiss, 1964. They both would sound amazing if they didn't have that surface static sound!!! Are they unfixable?
@ivanbogush
@ivanbogush Жыл бұрын
Surface noise as in crackle, or as in hiss? Wet clean them in a disco antistat if you haven't already, and use a zerostat in-hand before playing them. The more scratched up they are, the harder you'll need to clean them.

Best way to clean the stylus is brush ONLY. If there's some kind of residue in the stylus use an old brush (for instance) soaked in demineralized water. Everything will be gone. Don't use the zerodust. It will leave residue on your stylus.

Zero Dust doesn't leave grime on your record?
@VinylforMiles
@VinylforMiles 2 жыл бұрын
Apparently it leaves residue on your stylus not your record. This is recent information but I don’t think it’ll be a big deal if you use it once a month and follow up with a stylus brush and cleaner after. I you use it serval times a day for a few years maybe. I need more info on this all I saw was one article.

@@VinylforMiles That's absolutely a genius answer 🤪😃😄👍👌 LOVE IT LOL. I thought you did a great job answering the question during the video, however I would suggest ensuring your body is grounded as you body can store the static electricity to (walking across carpet in the winter then touching a metal door knob and ZAP!!!! If your body is grounded the build up can't occur.

Why in the world would the light be USB, my turntable does NOT have a usb port, nor is there any near my all analog system ? No thanks. Randomly? He just pulled your address out of a hat, just lucky you had a youtube channel.

No he saw my KZbin channel, emailed me and sent me the light no strings attached, he didn’t randomly send it to a lucky winner or anything he liked my videos. I'm sick and tired of all these "cleaning" products to clean vinyl , too much monkey business and a waste of my time, I buy SACDs and CDs and don't have to clean them almost ever and get very good quality of sound, cds are easier to store, clean, handle and are cheaper, I own more than 1,000 vinyl records and are a pain to store and clean, static,dust,mold, humidity, bugs are a big problem and expensive, CDs are sooo much easier, cheaper and no brainer to keep, I'm sticking to CDs.

All that matters is you're listening to music :) I also have a hifi headphone setup with a DAC/AMP and listen to FLAC when possible. But Vinyl is a super fun hobby if you don't mind the space it takes up and work you gotta put in to clean haha.
