They are all actual rpg´s with more choices,better rpg mechanics etc. not action games with terrible writing and goofy safe party members. I used to absolutely love Origins. The writing was very good and I loved to read the books related as well. The romance felt good as well. It had gay and lesbian romance as well and it made me question my own sexuality. Then they made everyone bi in DA2 and here everyone is as well from what I understand I haven’t played it. I played through Origins 6 times as different genders and races and every play through was unique. Have good characters and writing and you can make me fall for a man or woman or blue alien or even a person hidden behind a mask the entire game like Tali in ME2. Or a guy with a messed up face like Garrus. There are a few games that can handle trans characters well as well. But it’s done by making the player like the characters naturally not preaching. You like the person for who they are not their gender identity. But in the modern world it seems it’s no longer that gender isn’t important and it’s become the all important. I have to proclaim my pronouns and my sexuality to everyone and that is my only identity. It’s not making me feel more accepted if anything it’s old school adherence to rules just flipped around. I’ll pick up this game when it’s 15 bucks in a year just to see what it’s about but BioWare has gone from being my favourite company to a company I barely care about at all.

A lack of choice, a lack of properly different builds, a disjointed party that doesnt feel like they actually connect. Some things seem objectively bad, like the writing being very tell dont show. I dont know, you guys always wore your bias on your sleeves (which i liked) and you didnt with this one. It felt like a lie not the truth. Great video, this game was absolutely kneecapped by its very tumultuous development cycle. Add in that period of time when EA was forcing all their studios to push out live-service games (because they thought, “SiNgLePlAyEr Is DeAd”) and the loss of many of the original devs that led the charge on the original games, which results in this. Sad since before everything went wrong behind the scenes (according to Jason Schreier’s articles and the DA:TV artbook) they were at least on the right track.

It is good to hear a reasonable criticism of this game that isn't tied up in culture war nonsense. Considering the changes that took place during development and the resulting development hell, it is a wonder that this game is as good as it is. It certainly doesn't feel like a cohesive game that was made with a specific vision in mind. I'm not as invested in the Dragon Age franchise as many others, as until I decided to try out Veilguard, I had only played Origins, and that was a long time ago. I've only been picking at Veilguard when I'm in the mood, so I haven't progressed all that far. So far, I'm seeing a messy game that sometimes comes together well, and it is enjoyable when I want to play something that is low stress. I've fully nerfed the combat in the difficulty settings since I don't like action combat, so I'm effectively playing the game as a walking simulator. In that sense, it partially works. The scenery is varied and beautiful, and I sometimes enjoy simply wandering around and taking in the view. The story and dialogue, unfortunately, are not up to a high standard. Quality is all over the place. Every now and then, something hits well, but the high quality moments are brought down to earth by moments that are repetitive or cringeworthy. I agree that the writing lacks nuance. Much of the time, it feels like third rate young adult genre fiction, which can be fun at times on a surface level but is distinctly lacking in impact. So far, I like the characters at least reasonably well (even Bellara, though she can be annoying at times). Despite its problems, I find enough to like in the game that the positives outweigh the negatives, but it is not a great game and certainly not on the level of Origins. I don't think the team that made this game is lacking in talent, as there are moments when the game works well, and there are good ideas that could have been executed better. To me, it looks like a problem with management and a lack of vision at the top. Attempting to develop this game as a multiplayer live service was a huge mistake. Once that was abandoned, my guess is that a cohesive concept for the game never quite came together. Given all the money and time that were wasted taking wrong turns during development, I'm sure budget constraints came into play as well. It would be nice if this team could be given the freedom to create a new IP and build something from the ground up rather than work in old franchises that have run their course.
@Yuxkta6 күн бұрын
I just hate what this series has become. 2 and Inq had their problems but those had good bones and could be fixed. This game is straight up filled with contempt for the previous games. Southern Thedas is off screened, blight (which is the core aspect of DA world) end unceremoniously so that writers can write the stories they want using the famous IP name to finance it. This feels like a 6/10 average fantasy game, not a DA. Not in tone, not in writing, not in gameplay. I won't even mention how bad the secret ending is because it literally does its best to take a piss on the previous games for one last time. Gameplay also sucks balls and is praised mostly by people who never picked up a good action game like Sekiro, Nioh 2, Monster Hunter, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising etc.
@Ianbits6 күн бұрын
I have 100+ hours in Sekiro and Nioh 2 and obviously it's not going to scratch that same itch but it's still above average action combat in my opinion. It's not genre-bending greatness but it's still got its charm.

@Katie-hb8iq6 күн бұрын
I already disagree with the premise. Dragon Age panders heavily to the non-binary shtick, reducing Taash to their identity as a defining trait. This feels like a reverse form of bigotry, where a character is defined solely by their identity. Outside of activists, most players don’t want this in their video games, regardless of which identity is being highlighted. The game also comes across as overly preachy, as though it’s trying to impose a moral lesson on the player. Additionally, the dramatic genre shift alienated long-time fans, making it even harder to connect with the game. The reality is that Origins was the best entry in the series. This installment falls short-not just as a Dragon Age game but even as an action game, failing to compete with others in the genre. Considering how well Baldur’s Gate 3 performed in sales and popularity, there was no rational reason for Dragon Age to chase action trends and turn into a God of War clone. While the game suffers from significant narrative problems, the political pandering, virtue signaling, and drastic genre change only further damaged its reception. These factors left players unwilling to spend money on it-and they were right.

@beyond247v They made a video were they said they gave a game a bad rating because it was a bad game not because of the game studio or politics. (It was made by sweet baby inc) And they said i can already immagine the comments go woke go broke while rolling their eyes 😂 So the joke is about that.

@@beyond247v yeah well i can imagine some players enjoy the combat but the rest is trash so it doesent deserve the high scores.

Some of the decisions they were allowed to make was quite frankly mind boggling. Wonder if publishers will continue to let activist developers put their own personal agendas in games, completely tanking sales.. Avowed is next it seems.
@codernerd70766 күн бұрын
The activist writers/director mess it up, look there is a time and place for your trans politics agenda but this was not one of those. They also made a ton of lore mistakes and well the story was a mess why the hell did the developers choose this type of gameplay!?

I loved it. Tired of the anti woke losers crying all the time. Really dont care what they think.
@PkStarstormAlfa6 күн бұрын
If you dont care about what they think, why are you tired of them? Honestly most of the games that have been "woke" have been average/bad.
@jamespaul63156 күн бұрын
@ because its boring to keep reading the same exact opinion over and over from people who think they are some kind of culture warrior. And half, or three thirds, probably havent played the games they are complaining about so its even more hypocritical.
@mightysascrotch59816 күн бұрын
You don't need to eat dog poop to know it tastes bad.
@PkStarstormAlfa6 күн бұрын
@@jamespaul6315 its fine to complain about things you havent played. Ill give you an easy to understand analogy. If you go to a restaurant and order a burger, but they bring you a plate with bread and poop, are you going to complain about it? or you will eat it first to have a judgment? I know both sides of the spectrum pro and anti woke warriors are annoying, but so far the criticism has been very valid when you see the final product. In the end people who complain only want a better product which benefits us all.
@jamespaul63156 күн бұрын
@ ok but why do you care about a game you have zero interest in playing? Just move on. You have NO interest in the games clearly so why just complain? Its got minorities or women in it, we get it, its not for you. Fine. And I dont know any of the anti woke people thats made anything better for “us” all. I want nothing to do with them
