NOJ Helmet skirt amzn.to/3bvmP9L
Ahhh... This sucks so bad! I bought this iCon helmet because I love the way it looks and like the company.. When getting it I was really happy with the comfort and lightness. Yes I have heard many say that iCon helmets are loud, I expected it wouldn't be that bad because this is their top model. maybe some.. and some I could deal with but this thing is so loud! So loud that is basically impossible to use for motovlogging. I have tried many different things even to the point of sticking sugru in the vents. Then I seen the NOJ helmet skirt, They claim that wind noise to a motorcycle helmet is caused from wind coming under the helmet and this will fix it. Many KZbinrs claimed it works so I figured I'll give it one last try before going and buying a different helmet.

OnIy recently I started wearing a neck collar, which cost about $11 from a pharmacy, sold as a 'cervical collar'. This is the cheap fix to killing helmet wind noise, and I wish I had discovered it years ago. Not only does the reduction of wind noise make riding more enjoyable, but it's warm in winter. I shall wait another 6 months before I get to test it in summer. I still wear custom molded earplugs of course, so the combination of year plugs & neck collar work really well. Not long ago I was contemplating buying a new Nolan helmet with the wind 'skirt', but the neck collar was cheap and effective.

Great, Ive just ordered one! I wear plugs and have a top rated quiet noise helmet but it's still bad. I also have tinnitus. Love riding but hate the noise. Thanks for the option idea.

Why can't these helmet manufacturers make a neck roll that pumps up with air to fit around your neck once the helmet is put on your head. Wind buffering makes riding so miserable.

My scorpion EXO 1400 AIR - has air pump but mostly expands around the cheek areas, not the lower neck where the winds sucks up. Stops some noise but not enough.

Noise reduction tip - think aerodynamics. The less the wind hits on the helmet, the less noise; helmet exterior, very important. Also, line the inside of the helmet with thin layer of foam between the pads and shell.

No clue, sorry. Maybe just remove the helmet skirt, or after wearing a few times it might break in.

Have you tried placing the mic behind the cheek pads? I saw other vloggers do it that way. I saw one place it inside the cheek pads, theres no wind noise but its a little muffled..
@SHIFT-ED
@SHIFT-ED 3 жыл бұрын
I have done that too, it's not the mic, it's the helmet, you can't even hear yourself. I picked up a Shoei today to replace it.

I bought a shoei thinking well if I spend the money on a good helmet I won't have that problem. But I think it's worse than my $180 ls2. I also bought that same exact neck seal thing you have, and it won't fit my shoei. I'm currently trying to customize the padding around my neck because I don't want to spend 50 or 60 bucks on thicker padding, not knowing if it will solve the problem. I'd love to hear any solutions out there for this.

I've have/had 2 LS2 carbon explorers, 12k miles. Both have problems with the sun shade mechanism failure. Only issue I have with my new bmw is wind noise. Aside from the company refusing to honor the warranty for the sun shade, best helmet I've used in 50+ years. I got to test a new Shoei neotec 2 helmet today, which I had hoped would resolve the noise issue. NOPE! Much worse. Visor whistling, more noise with it up then closed. Too many reflections in the clear visor. The padding pushed terribly against my sun glasses. I give it a 10 for the plush interior however. The sun shade works flawlessly. I was really looking forward to being able to get a drink without removing the helmet. IMO, the LS2 is by far, the much quieter helmet. I'm waiting on a pair of Bose noise canceling ear buds from China. Last hope to get this managed a tad better.

I use a purple panda mic with a dead cat wind killer and chin curtain but I tuck my microphone under my cheek pad nearest to my mouth. And audio comes out pretty decent

Would recommend having the mic off to the side of ur helmet. The it doesn't pic up wind noise from vents in front
@SHIFT-ED

Closed my vents but not a bad idea, I think with it up front you pick up to much breathing. I'm going to try to move mine to the side, maybe in the cheek pads.

@@SHIFT-ED Shoei? LOL! I had a Black Shoei for many years and let someone have it a long time ago because I didn't plan on getting another street bike. I think about it and kick myself in the butt. Although I have a couple helmets I am happy with now, they just don't fit as well as the Shoei did. It is hard to get a comfortable helmet for my big head! I have a 4x that is big and comfortable and a 2x that is a nice one with the flip-up chin and the dual visors etc, but it is a little tight. I need to spend some time working on the padding and it could be a real good one for me but then again I am afraid to remove a portion of the paddings and make it less protective. I don't ride enough anymore to worry too much about the perfect helmet. I just wear the 4x and am comfortable. I bought a Bluetooth mic and speakers to go in it to work with my phone. I have a chin strap mount for my GoPro that fits well. I will have to check it to see if it is too noisy from the wind but I like a breeze in my helmet. I usually pop the bottom of the visor to get more air running through it. Nort so good for audio I see, so something I need to check too when I get the bike back together and the items installed in the helmet. Sub D and Kleb use the Voss helmets and they seem to have good audio! Check them too. You still have a lot of noise in the helmet at higher speeds. Good luck!
