Nobody likes riding there motorbike with a load of wind noise in there helmet!
Although this is inherit to motorcycle riding, there are some simple hacks that can substantially reduce wind noise and vibration.
From helmet wind curtains, to plugs and scarfs, everything will help!
Today i tested out two scarfs, and the effects of a windshield on my wife's Trident 660.
The results were very noticeable.
Please take a peek. I hope my findings also help you :D
To ensure real results, the mic is high sensitivity and was placed near my ear.

The thing is a low sitting screens redirects the wind turbulence to your neck thus results in more wind noises.

Yes that man is 100 per cent correct I did it with a normal scarf tie the knot 40 years it worked for i still does nd better than ear plugs 2 use with scraf the correct amount nd correct n ear that you can hear the motor nd that allow yourself 2 hear horn clearly

Do you have a guide on how to wear the scarf as you have? I feel like mine will fall off while i ride

Nice video. I believe that with or without scarf or similar, will be very difficult to talk on the phone. My helmet is a bell broozer, which has no protection for wind on the low front.

Me and my wife use the midland intercoms on our trips, and they do fine. As long as your not going over the speed limit. 😜 But the scarf helps quite things down quite alot 👌

Some seem to forget a wind screen is not primarily to reduce wind noise in the helmet, but to reduce wind pushing against your head & more even your chest when riding at higher speeds. This does impact the comfort on long riders on more naked type bikes.

Wow... Instead of thinking bigger higher windshield... A scarf can reduce the noise? No wonder i saw some riders use scarf which i thought as fashion. I need to try this!

this windshield does direct the wind direct towards your head n giving increased windnoise. without windshield more wind hits lower thus reducing noise

The windshield creates turbulence, more turbulence equals more wind noise. The secret to minimize wind noise is to have a tall good windshields that has great aerodynamic.

Ear plugs are all you need. Windscreens are awful things. They create extra turbulence around the head area. I haven't had a bike with a screen for over 13 years.

Oh yeah. Totally agree. But if you do want a screen, this actually helps quite a bit 👍

I use nonoise earplugs only if i'm going on long rides but windscreen does contribute to deflect wind, then again the rider's height comes to play, if tall then yes extra turbulence.

The absolute solution is not a screen, a scarf or earplugs... it is old age! Ask me, I know!! Throughout the last two years or so my helmet has gone awfully quiet!! (said with a tear in my eye). I miss the usual noise!! Regards....

I'm 66 and experience the opposite. Modern helmets are very noisy and I need earplugs now. I remember my old AGV helmet being much quieter back in 1978. I did not need earplugs then.

Honestly, everything was noisy, I couldn't hear any difference, get different helmet. That wind screen would help a little with wind fatigue but would have no effect in making the ride quieter.

Nice vid, but if you're riding in hot weather, it's actually better to have air travel inside the helmet, in fact i would suggest removing the chin curtain for a cooler head... Cheers

I disagree 100 %. The manufacturers today are focusing too much on ventilation. That makes their helmets almost unbearable noisy. Try a 50 year old integral helmet - if you can find one.

Allways wear ear plugs, i ride a naked and no screen but with howard ear plugs and dont suffer wind noise, also some helmets are more prone than others for wind noise, for me i foung aria helment the worst and cayburg full face the best with shark a close scond, all ways make sure a good fit with minimal protusions like camras and vents
