It's Western culture and it's nothing new. We glorify and salute those who are 'different' even if they are miserable and lost. I can't deny that I have this same tendency... I can value Slug as a unique individual with valuable perspectives and pattern of thought. I believe that art in it's entirety is a very painful, disorganized, and chaotic field... just look beneath the surface. The people that are able to feel more, artists, tend to feel disproportionally bad. They can never seem to get their brains to work 'right' and this is for the most part unpleasant and unproductive. That's the whole deal. These people are too fucked up to produce things typically as they're expected. They are in constant stages of being too high or too low. They say fuck it and create things completely unique, mostly garbage, but occasionally creating material of infinite worth...
