I have the nokia 5.4 in purple for 2 weeks now. Great battery life, lasts all day even when I use it to hotspot. Reception is great and clear. Stock android is super clean. No other apps pre installed. Can have multiple apps running with no hiccups. My only irk is it sometimes restarts on its own. Like maybe 3 times a week it did that. Which is so weird for me. The camera is just okay.

I'm not so sure about these devices, I'm currently using the Nokia 5.1 but I'm not convinced by the 5.3 or the 5.4 to really get them. One of the main reasons is the 720p panels coming from my current 1080p panel. I might wait to see what Nokia does in 2021.

While an upgrade in all areas, the 5.4 isn't a significant enough leap for me to render the 5.3 outdated/unusable. For that, the upcoming 6.4/7.4 models are much more likely to be ideal upgrades.

Why is nokia not giving 1080p panels now a days..... I mean they are charging a good amount of money for either 5.3 and 5.4 and they can easily afford 1080p panels at this price range..they should give 1080p panels at this price range and 1080p panels at this price range is common... Few years ago nokia gave 1080p panel in nokia 5.1 and surprisingly that phone was launched at much lower price than 5.3 or 5.4 and was superb value for money.... So why can't nokia afford 1080p panels now a days even with higher price....besides they cant go over 10watt charging....I know Nokia use very good quality materials so they cant give specs like chinese phones at same price... But you have to remember that they are charging much higher than chinese even then they cant give similar specs like chinese phones... Thats why nokia is failing in India..

I believe there's an added advantage of TUV rheinland certification for the screen on Nokia 5.3 which is good and important compared to that of Nokia 5.4 witch only has a night mode but no certfication. But yes I do like warmer screen of Nokia 5.4 compared to the cooler one in Nokia 5.3. One thing which I don't like as per the trend nowadays is the quad camera set up with the gimmicky 2+2 mpx depth and macro. TBH no one uses them and is really mediocre stuff to even see them in Nokia 8.3 5G. HMD should remove this ASAP and start giving better telephoto lens. Nokia 5.4 definitely has an added advantage but I'll still continue with my Nokia 5.3 for now. I think you forgot to mention that Nokia 5.4 does not support WiFi dual band. Having been a user of the Nokia 8 for some time, I jumped to the moto one fusion plus last year because I was sick of waiting around for the 7.3/7.4 or the 6.3/6.4 to ever materialize and I wanted stock android. I can say I've been really happy with Motorolas stock(ish) implementation of android - maybe more than the vanilla android on the nokia. I really like the Moto add ons like the Moto Gestures, peek display and the personalisation options. The software is Clean, bloatfree and stable and I've been getting security Updates every two months reliably. So Yeah considering the Moto g9 power has a bigger battery, faster charging and better camera than the 5.3, I too think it's a really good choice.

Hey, Abdullah. Very nice to find a Nokia centered channell here. I've seen quite some video's of you and decided to subscribe. No lame specs talk but day to day usage experience. Great work! (Sorry, post got way too long, the questions I have are at the end.) I've been a pretty enthuastic Nokia user since the good old Symbian days. N95 (could do anything, that is, as long as the battery lasted), N79 (smart phone for its days, very underrated), C6-00 (nice keyboard, budget N97 without the bugs). Every app you wanted and you could dig deep in the system once you knew Symbian S60. Yes, and the camera's! Only the minimal amount of usable Ram was a bit of a letdown. Made the switch to Windows with the 735. Great design, fantastic OLED screen, good camera for its days, for the first time a good browsing experience, wireless charging, removable battery, possibility to move complete apps to the SD card. Great phone! Windows 8.1 Denim was, although somewhat locked, a fantastic and lean OS. (better than W10, another stupid decision). Made the most of its hardware. When the app support became worse over the time I bought myself a Nokia 5 (2017), which I'm still using today. I love the build quality, I love the design (not to big, fps at the front, 16:9, no notch or hole), and it is still my daily driver. With a sturdy bookcase cover it still looks (and functions!) like new. And a stick-on wireless charging accessory, works like a charm, makes sure the USB-port will live forever. For smoothness'sake I restart it apr. once a month. 2Gb still works for me, as I close apps after usage. I hardly ever use bluetooth or GPS. But now to my question. Since my N5 is limited to 16 GB internal storage, of which 7 are usable and apps are getting heavier and heavier I've decided to go for a new phone. Preferrably Nokia and within my budget. The most obvious choices are the 5.3 and the 5.4. But I also have a soft spot for the 7 plus, mostly design-wise, in spite of its charging port issues. From what I understood from your reviews the advantages of the 5.4 are: More compact, more screen on time, better camera. But: worse build quality, no notification light anymore, no 5 GHz anymore. Not competely bug-free yet. And both have a, let's say, interrupted screen. I am not an extremely heavy user, no games, no social media, but quite some browsing, (e-)reading and streaming. No selfies, not much video, but taking good (i.e. acceptable) pictures is important to me. And strong stable wifi receiving. As well as robustness! Which one of these three would you buy if you were me? Prices of the 5's in the Netherlands are about the same (7+ used cheaper of course). Would you be so kind to tell me how the 5.3 + Gcam compares to the standard 5.4? And are there possibillities to hide the *** hole / *** notch? Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work! Kind regards, Yim.
@AbdullaZaki3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yim, was nice reading your Nokia journey and thanks for subscribing :) Regarding the choice between the 5.4 and 5.3, I would go for the newer 5.4 mainly due to the day to day performance and camera. While you can get excellent images with the 5.3 using gcam (better than stock 5.4), the optimization and battery life done on the 5.4 makes it a better choice for most people. You can't hide the notch on either devices unfortunately.
@raymondtiemstra50263 жыл бұрын
@@AbdullaZaki Thanks Abdulla for your appropriate answer. I have given it some thoughts and have decided to (at least for a while) keep using my N5. I have removed some barely used apps and have some 1,5 Gb of memory left. As I don't expect to receive big updates anymore (non-system anyway) I've got the impression that I could keep using it for some more time. Everything works as smooth, or even better, as the first day I used it (late 2017). Android 7 -> Android 9. The camera, with Gcam installed (highly recommended) is in the same league as my son's Pixel 3A, and better than my wife's Galaxy A7. Even today I managed 6+ hours screen time (browsing, Brave browser) with 40% left. No bluetooth (why?) and no GPs (don't need it, I know the way). It's not the fastest, I know, but what can you achieve in your life waiting 0,2 seconds for opening an app instead of 0,5 seconds? Most of all: I trust this device, it has grown on me. And I would be quite surprised if a 5.4 would last as long as this metal build foxconn build device. They make Iphones too, you know. No glass backs, no plastic frames. No notch or punchhole, no ironing bord-like design. And in fact I trust the early HMD's more than the recent generic OMD ones. So a N6 (better screen but less battery time) or a N7+ (With €50 to spare for a USB-port replacement) may be the proper followup for an old-fashioned user as me. A critical but loyal user that is. I hope that the new CPO is able to develop again some Nokia-worth devices instead of the mediocre China-like stuff. Design, build quality, camera. Not also-rans, but dependable, good-looking, camera-centic (please no extra useless cam's for number's sake) which are build to last. There must be a market for it. Kind regards, Yim.

@@AbdullaZaki Hey Abdulla, update from the Netherlands. I bought myself a used 7+ in a very nice condition. With the (I believe) bt 205 earbuds, which function very good. Charging port was, as expected, not perfect, so I have had it replaced. The experience is about the same as the N5, which is still a perfectly able backup phone, but screen, speed, camera (gcam of course) and especially storage are all better. Metal build, uninterrupted screen, 64 gb ram, about as fast as the latest 5 models and far better looking and feeling. At least I think so, never have been holding a 5.3 or 5.4 in my hands. Light use: 2+ days on a charge, heavier use 1+ days on a charge. 6+ hours screentime that is. Works for me. Pictures are as great as the ones taken with my son's Pixel 3a and way better than the ones taken by my wife's Galaxy A8. Telecam is also great. And no fixed focus 2 mp macro nonsense or so. Gcam surely makes a big difference, especially in low light. 4k video is for me, being at heart a 20th century person (floppy"s, ms-dos, Symbian, old motorbikes and sport bicycles, music from the 60"s) somewhat over the top but yeah, it's there. To sum it up: for appr. €160 in total (including ear buds, port repair and a good128 gb card) I'm a happy user. Keep up the good work by following an iconic make, thank you very much for doing so, and let's hope for a better future for Nokia. Building solid, user-friendly, reliable, good looking and somewhat different phones. The ones you can advise to both your parents and your children. Cheers, Yim.

I would pick the 5.4. The smaller size and pretty colours make it look and feel better, and with the bigger camera sensor, you just get better results. Also since it came out later you get longer support, which is nice.
@Harsh123512 жыл бұрын
The support provided is same for both the devices lol. That's why in this area 5.3 is better.

which Nokia phone do you recommend for a person who is currently using Nokia 6.

We usually don't compare Nokia phones in Turkey. Even we don't talk about Nokia phones. Because there is still no Nokia Mobile :))) the great selling and marketing department of HMD doesn't see Turkish market as valuable as Nigeria, Nepal or Pakistan :)))))))))

I have 5.3...there is not a single manual control given in camera ...and when recording a video i try to make some unclear scenes bit good looking by reducing exposure by selecting focus but it just kill the video by just reseting my exposure settings afteer 10seconds back to normal
@AbdullaZaki3 жыл бұрын
For photos both of them don't have manual controls. If you want to keep the exposure locked long press on the screen on the point of focus till the square "locks" so this won't happen

Baby yoda all they way👍. But seriously I don’t think there’s anything worth upgrading for from the 5.3 to the 5.4. I still think just for value the 5.3 is the better option as you can find it very reduced now. It will still offer a great experience and the same update roadmap as the 5.4. Although it really bugs me why neither have Bluetooth 5.0. Seriously Nokia why!!!!! The 2.4 has 5.0.Usually I wouldn’t moan about specs to much as at this price point you can’t expect the earth. But releasing the 5.4 with Bluetooth 4.2 is just crazy considering in the UK the 2.4 is nearly half the price. And the gloss back that has flex is another strange decision. And the other thing that miffs me is why release an upgrade so soon after the 5.3 that has no better roadmap for software. Yes it’s a better phone in general. But not enough to call a true upgrade. Again it’s the Nokia roadmap that’s let it down here. I honestly think this was a cost cutting measure to release a device that they new they were safe with that could be developed side by side with the 3.4. I understand why they did it, but it’s not given 5 series users anything to shout about. Only 9 months between the 5.3 and 5.4. I don’t know the reasons for this but it is kinda crazy because we haven’t seen the 7.2 successor yet. And the 7.2 was released in 2019😂
