To be honest, after using Nokia 7.1 for more than two years, I kinda wanted to upgrade to Nokia 7.2. But the processor and the battery life stopped me from buying the phone. Anyway hoping for the best in Nokia 7.3.

I dont know why hmd decide to put on all that at nokia 7.2. This phone should be an upgrade from 7.1 should be better. Maybe they save budget. I dont know guys. This is a new company using nokia brand and a new people to start all over again. Hope them can ketchup what the old nokia left from since the last nokia lumia that was killed by stephen eloff@microsoft. I'm start using nokia 6 till it cannot be charge due to motherboard problem. Now upgrade to 7.2. Up coming maybe nokia 9.3 or 7.3😅i cannot trust other brand, especially chinese brand. Apple good but too expensive plus no innovation. I actually have the Nokia 5.3 and 7.2 in my hands so can do a quick comparison. Feel wise the 7.2 feels solid and premium and the 5.3 feels plastic and a bit flimsy. Speed wise exact same. Screen on the 7.2 is better. Speaker on 5.3 is better. Camera is slightly better on 7.2 but ok on 5.3. So I would recommend 7.2 but too early on battery life so if the battery life on the 5.3 is better then I would say 5.3 for that reason alone.

I would suggest waiting. I think HMD is learning from their past mistakes and so the 7.3 will hopefully not have the same compromises as the 7.2. But yes, that cyan is beautiful :) its why I currently have my main sim card in the 7.2

Just bought a new Nokia 7.2 for my wife. I returned it the next day....Here is why. Constant freezing and constant reboots. Randomly rejected SanDisk memory card too. I tried resetting to factory full reset twice. It did not help. Also, rather odd, I tried the camera and it said memory was full??? It was brand new out the box phone. I have two Nokia 6.1's for myself and one of my son's. No issues with them. My other son has a Nokia 6.2 which he says is basically okay, except for some random camera app freezes.

When searching for a new phone some months ago, i highly considered the Nokia 7.2, but there were two main reasons why i didn't buy it: the SAR values are very high (everything over 0.7 at the head makes my ears hurt after long phone calls) and the fact that i didn't find any case on Amazon that didn't cover the led notification light. I know my reasons are probably quite odd for most people.

Extremely helpful, informative review. Thanks for your efforts. I am mystified about why HMD vends so many barely distinguishable phones. There are expenses to design and especially test each one; also the expense maintaining separate distribution channels. Do "economies of scale" not apply to HMD? I should add that I bought a 7.2 4GB/128GB TA 1178 and could scarcely be happier with it.

I would prefer one device that does everything right rather than 3 that do half things right. Im also sure a lot more people would buy that one phone over the 3. The first nokia models that produced by HMD between 2017-2018 had some serious chronic problems such as ghost screen (Nokia 8), screen freezing - charging port issue (Nokia 7 Plus- Nokia 6.1 Plus). How are the other phones since 2019? Are people happy with their phones or they have got similar problems?

I think quality has improved, but there are still a few issues here and there. From my experience owning the Nokia 9, Nokia 8 sirocco, and now the 5.3 and 7.2, there are very few notable issues. Its mainly software optimization that needs improvement.

This guy nailed it, one of the main reasons I bought my Nokia 7.2 was because it was a nostalgia buy... I had all the main Nokias from N95 8gb until Windows phone was killed... The Nokia 7.2 was my return to Nokia with Android and a up to date camera but it's already starting to show its age and I'm starting to look elsewhere. Still love the phone though. Nokia better put out a folding device or dual screen phone or else I'm going with a Microsoft Surface Duo.

For me a midrange should have a larger battery because in midrange devices processor is not as power efficient as in flagships.

It depends on processors. The most important metric is nm size, the lower the better and the more efficient. Flagships usually have a generation ahead in this regard, but their higher clock speeds and higher resolution displays also means that they would consume more battery

It depends on your eyes. There is a noticeable difference but only if the screen is really close to your face. I would wait to see the 6.3 before making a decision.

It depends on the version of android when each phone first came out. The 7.2 came out with android 9 (pie) so it will only get android 11. The 5.3 came out with android 10 so it will go up to android 12

I had a Nokia 7.1 since it was first released but wanted to upgrade. I just bought the Nokia 5.3 because even with the lower specs than the Nokia 7.2, it is technically newer, better battery life and processor. The only downside is the camera and screen resolution but a good deal for the price. I can wait for the 7.3 or better

Nokia has always been my favorite phone and I have had one since they came to South Africa. My Nokia N95 is over 13 years old and is still going well, under the circumstances. Unfortunately it went into the washing machine for a minute or two before I realized and immediately took it out, opened the back and dried the battery and put the phone in the sun. It did survive but plays up sometimes. If I could win some money, I would buy one of those Nokias with the good cameras, I am 81 years of age and have always found the Nokia a dependable, user friendly phone and would never change to any other than Nokia. My Nokia 7.2 is not very responsive, infact it hangs pretty often specially while pulling down the tray from top which has icons of WiFi, location etc. Also is it possible that installing gcam mods makes these phones slower ??

It could be Gcam, but it also could be other bad apps using the RAM without you knowing. Its hard to figure it out but I had some issues with gcam on other Nokia phones before, especially since the ports aren't very optimized specifically for Nokia phones.

My 8.1 served me since December 2019, and the charging port / display issues now meant goodbye. I got the 5.3 for nowjust because I didn't want to spend too much money as there's no Nokia device that I think can surpass the 8.1 as of now (India). Here are my observations: - Display is definitely not as good as the 8.1 It is no contest. 8.1 has better colours, contrast and resolution - Screen on the 5.3 is massive. 8.1 is more suitable for one hand use - Camera's are better on the 8.1 The only things that are better in the 5.3 v/s the 8.1 are call quality loudness, microphone and software update support. I would have repurchased the 8.1 had I found a good deal.

Hi Abdulla, I have noticed a small bug in nokia 7.2. after turning on PureView display if i open a picture in photos app the screen flickers and colors become very washed out. Can you confirm this issue?

Based on my unit, I dont have this issue. There are some other issues I faced with the puredisplay. Sometimes colors would inverse when using the camera for example. Does your issue happen every time? I would suggest switching off automatic brightness and switching it back on to see if that fixes it.

I expect the Samsung to be better because of newer software and optics, but I haved used it to give you a 100% factual answer. But on a basic level, Nokia likes to keep the images looking very neutral/ natural while Samsung likes to make images that are contrasty/bright/colorful.

To be honest for most people, if you're not 10 cm or closer away from your phone you won't see a difference. I asked a couple of my non tech savvy friends to tell me which display is higher resolution between the 5.3 and 7.2 and none of them could. If I could change anything about the display, I would a more saturated display

Tthanks for the comparison. Ive always had in interest in 7.2 cause of the zeis optics. Does 5.3 also have it. Does it even matter. And can you please tell me how the audio listening thru headphones experience is on either but particularly the 5.3 since its cheaper i may get it. I have an lg k5s . the audio music experience is best I've ever heard on a y phone, since I am a musician. But the camera is rather pathetic. Regards.

Hi Higo, sadly Nokia doesn't pay much attention to the headphone jack quality, especially on lower end devices. I also wouldn't recommend getting the 7.2 now because its starting to show its age (I have a video about the 7.2). You might be better off waiting for their announcement on the 8th of April..

I gots the 7.2 and in the UK the price difference is £50 rather than £100. The battery life is bad but if I knock screen brightness down to 50% then it's actually not too bad. The reviews on the 7.2 are pretty bad across the board and the phone speaker is terrible. But from my point of view I have no issues and would have no issue recommend the phone to a normal ordinary user.

Thats exactly what I was trying to convey in the video. The 7.2 is not a bad device at all. Yes you can find a lot of things to complain about on paper, but using it and experiencing it everyday, most people would be happy with it. Its just hard to sell that sort of emotion when someone walks into a phone shop and just read specifications. Im personally using the 7.2 now as my daily driver because of the design and color.

@@AbdullaZaki when I first saw the 5.3 for £150 I was astonished. Nokia had made a better phone than the £250 7.2! For a budget phone the 5.3 is astonishing but my 7.2 is the phone I got. I normally Motorola but my Moto G7 Power is still on Android 9 so 7.2 with Android One was an easy sale.

I don't recommend the 7.2 anymore. The last update added a lot of bugs and the battery is no longer good for most people.

Nokia makes it hard to stay on board. My first was a 1610 and I've many since, two Windows phones and more recently a 7.1 that failed after only a year. Currently I'm using Samsung but would come back to Nokia if they were able to keep up with tech and improve reliability.
