Wow, looking at 90’s smartphones like the Nokia 9210 Communicator feels like taking an exotic trip back to the past!

Thanks for the video. I just wanted to point out that the phone is almost empty due to it being factory-formatted. Back in the days it was expected that after factory-reset user will connect the phone to the computer and install all programs (even the basic ones like a file manager or picture viewer that we expect to be on the phone by default these days) from the Nokia PC suite. As a result after factory reset phone is almost totally empty and has only the basic calling/messaging/calendar functions. All other apps must be installed manually.

I didn't know that. It is factory reset for sure. Thanks for the info

@@MrFloryn88 No problem, mate. I wanted to put this info out here because when I first got my 9210i I thought that it had some firmware/software problem because there was absolutely no apps in it. It took me a while to dig through multiple retro-smartphone forums to finally realize that after reset these phones were totally empty and everything needed to be installed through PC or by copying app installation files to MMC memory card of the phone. This is why original CD that came with this 9210i is so important - it contains all these default apps.

Thank you very much for your kind words and for watching my video for so many times. Too bad that times have changed and I don't have enough time to post more videos. I have other videos with my other old phones on my channel. Thanks again and nothing but the best for you too.

This is a very cool phone, looks like it would've been useful back then for that note and internet feature
@MrFloryn887 жыл бұрын

BTW if you need the setup files for the Office menu (word and excel) I can send them to you. I still have the original CD which came with this phone. There are many useful apps on that CD.

It's funny how perception for some things changes over the years. In 2002 I thought that this phone had a HUGE screen, nowadays I think that the screen is medium to small :)
@MrFloryn887 жыл бұрын
MegaBojan1993 yes I know . For me even 5.5 is small , I want a bigger screen . The sweet spot for me is 5.7 :)
@megabojan19937 жыл бұрын
Livius For me it's quite the opposite. I have a 5,7 inch screen on my Note 3 and I'm sick of it size. When I buy the next phone I will try and find some phone in the 5,2 - 5,5 range :)
@MrFloryn887 жыл бұрын
MegaBojan1993 you will regret it ! I did the same thing after having only 5.7 inchi phones and know I can't wait to get back to 5.7 . It deppends on what you use your phone for .

So you finally got one of the best Nokia phones ever made. Congratulations.

Thank you but I have this phone in my collection for some time :)
@megabojan19937 жыл бұрын
Livius I've never seen it before on your channel. Do you have some other Nokia communicator phone?
@MrFloryn887 жыл бұрын
MegaBojan1993 you didn't because I erased the video because I didn't like it and I remaded it today . No I don't have any comunicators , I also said that in this video :)
@megabojan19937 жыл бұрын
Livius I haven't heard it because I was watching this video in a crowded bus :) I will listen to it again when I get home.
@MrFloryn887 жыл бұрын
Ok , I didn't know that but if you watched it in the bus it means you really like my amateur videos :) . I wish I will be able to get more comunicators in my collection . There is also a Nokia 9210i , mine is the simple version .

I suppose it’s internal color screen was not a touch screen right, or was it a touch screen either too?
@MrFloryn8814 күн бұрын
No, it wasn't. That's why those many buttons from the left and ride sides are, but it was mind-blowing at that time. It was something from out of this world. The disadvantage was thar it was very heavy and thick, but hey? You had a PC in your pocket.
