This is my short review of the Nokia G42 5G. The second phone from Nokia that gives users the option to - themselves - order and replace both the screen, the battery and the charging port in case one of them breaks. So, is it any good?

i really liked this budget 5g phone is super fast compared to my current existing ones, only thing bothering me is the hd+ display, with a full hd would had been a premium one got it for my mother.

Hi, thanks for the comment! Yeah, you can always go higher in terms of resolution and specs, but for a lot of people there´s really no need to. But that is of course very subjective. A pretty neat looking phone is it definitely though :-) // Chris

The galaxy a05s which is priced at a lower price and the a05s does look like a premium mid range than an entry level phones and has a better 1080p display with vivid colors which can pass for an Amoled display. For this price, there are better options out there from oppo and Samsung.

True and I was suprised by it identical look as Oppo A53 (yeh front camera and fingerprint sensor different and so on but the camera position is identical), and A53 use a lot of glue to glue the back shell.

Definitely some similarities there! But glue is as always terrible :-D And most likely actually not needed when comparing the A53 and G42 since both seem to be having the same kind of water and dust resistance (IP52, even though the Oppo seem to lack the actual certification). // Chris

I'm looking for 5g modem, then i found this phone with similar price point... does the battery even hold up for hotspot?

Hi! The battery life is indeed a little above average when comparing similarly priced phones. So it might work fine as a 5G hotspot. However, since I haven't really tested it with those conditions in mind I´m not gonna give to much promise on it. There are probably 5G-modems with longer battery life if that is the most important aspect of it though. // Chris

Have you felt strain on your eyes while using this phone? Actually I have received this phone today and I am feeling strain on my eyes while using this phone. I have another smartphone but my eyes feel comfortable while using that phone.

Hi! I unfortunately do not have the phone anymore so can´t say for sure, but as far as I remember from using it I did not experience any noticeable eye strain. Something that i definitely do with some phones though. Suppose there´s many factors affecting people in different ways when it comes to screens. Sometimes, and when jumping from one type of screen to another, I feel it can take some time getting used to the new screen. Might be something like that? However if you keep feeling strain on your eyes after some more use I would probably try another phone if possible. // Chris
