The original spec sheet we received said 1 gig. I see the consumer-facing info says 2 gigs. Will look into it and change it in our written review.

You can manually change the shutter speed but not the aperture. When we're done reviewing, we send the loaner back to the manufacturer or carrier.

My wife just picked up this device.... Absolutely stunning. I have been a windows phone user user since the HTC hd7, boy has Microsoft come a long way! I am waiting for the lumia 1520 myself.

Lisa, nice review as usual but one correction. For action photography, you can use the Nokia Smart Cam app to get multiple images per second. You can also use other apps that provide similar functionality.

I've had iPhones, Androids and Window phones and quite frankly, I love WindowsOS, the lack of apps killed it for me though. I do believe Windows is going in the right direction though. I use my phones extensively and both iOS and Android lagged when I used them but Windows OS didn't lag once. Once they start getting the popular apps and perhaps bettering their software and systems, Windows will rock. Don't pay attention to the bad comments, people are idiots.

Honestly Lisa it is on Nokia's official page, ATT's product page for the 1020, and wikipedia. It is the first windows phone I believe to have 2GB of RAM.

Yes, it has 6tag, an unofficial but full featured Instagram app. The official app from Instagram will come in the following weeks, because it has finally been announced for WP8 :)

I've had this phone for a little over a month and the camera for a smartphone is really awesome. I always have it on auto when taking photo's but still learning the camera's tweaks. I can't compare the xperia Z1 camera because I have never experienced it. The 1020 video camera during the day on auto is good but can be abit oversaturated. It can also be tweaked but have never tried it and have not used the video camera during the night.

Dude the WP8 youtube and facebook that were installed when I got my 1020 weren't working so I had to venture through internet explorer for the official apps. MS have updated these installed apps and it works a treat there is nothing wrong with them. I've read on countless comments that 6tag is better then the official instagram and so is an app called metrotube for the official youtube. Good on MS for putting alternative apps out there for us WP8 users

As usual, great review. So this camera is as good or better than high-end compact cameras? She commented that the photos are as good as her SLRs. So is the camera alone worth the $650 price tag? Sometimes, I just want to take quick photos of a scene, event or my dog but I hate looking for my compact camera everywhere. Just want to take quick but high quality shots.

KZbin is listed as an app in the nokia store & I assume the installed one is from the app store as well? My lumia 1020 has a rewind and forward display where I can just tap on them to move the timeline

Lumia Amber and Black updates have added improved features to the phone and the latest being DNR format on the photos. She had the camera on manual. She should have returned it to Auto to get a better picture of the toy.

Let me just tell you guys I recommend the Nokia Lumia 1020, I used it a little and it's good for recording and taking pictures and games etc. But if you're not used to weight it will feel weird at first, but eventually you will get used to it. I recommend the Nokia Lumia 1020 for these reasons.

When you text an image, does it still go through Skydrive? Because my friend who had a Nokia Lumia had all her images send through Skydrive, and it was nice because it sent faster than actually sending an image.

Lisa, could you answer something for me. In this video review, when you bring up the theme color grid, it appears that there is no "Cobalt" color. Instead it looks like it's replaced by a different purple color. Can you confirm? It could be the AMOLED that's making it look different..

in optimal conditions, they can be comparable. In low light, or if you want to zoom in, the difference is huge. Of course, if picture/video quality in a lot of different situations is not important to you, pass on this.

Just make sure you have the apps you need on wp8 (which you probably do). If you do you should definitely go for the 1020 as its build quality, maps, camera and OS trumps the S4.

i'm looking for a decent camera phone. I dont understand why they didn't put micro sd card slot in here, but they put it on lumia 720. I think based on the photo resolution it can reach 6-8mb/capture. I believe transferring pic is kinda painful with zune(itunes-apple-like). On the other hand, Sony came up with dsc qx series (lens style camera) I'm thinking of getting this instead of changing my phone. Maybe, can you review this unit? thanks

It's not the number of apps, it's the key apps that Windows Phone doesn't have that makes it a drawback. I used to own a Windows Phone and loved it, it just didn't have the key apps I really want and need like Watch ESPN and HBO Go. I reluctantly switched to the iPhone, which I ended up being really happy with, but it costs a lot for what it offers. Maybe someday Windows Phone will get one of those apps, and then I'll return to it.

I had the same problem with my windows phone. I had an HTC 8x it was an outstanding phone had a nice camera and amazing battery life just didn't have the apps I needed. Most likely the newer windows phones have them or will eventually have them

I just bought the Nokia 1020 and it's a fantastic device. Zero complaints from me. Has all the apps I need, is zippy, and the hardware is excellent. ... And that CAMERA. Unbelievably good.

Certainly it's about time for Microsoft and Nokia to adopt the phrase "Think different". But that's just for the design of both. Really, the only real advtage of this phone over any other would be the camera. Although I seriously doubt 41MP will be better than 10MP as long as it uses the same sensor technology.
