I really miss Nokia's spirit of innovations and creativity regarding their past phones. Hit or Miss back then it doesn't matter. I wish more phone companies these days (EVEN NOKIA) would steal some ideas out of the OG Nokia playbook. I am so bored with these flat rectangular slabs, with the Camera bumps.

I remember salivating over this phone back in the day so thank you for this. I would be interested in such a retrospective on the 3650. Based on what I have read, I must have been the only person in the world that loved it. Used it for four years and was able to text on it quite well.

I was 6-7 yrs old that time and wanted this phone so bad. My neighbour had this. I was desparate for a phone. I used to make phones by folding papers to play. Today this phone is worthless. Very satisfying

Nice review!I had a N73 as my main phone when I was in high school, bought from Orange and it had a bigger box. I was very happy with it and I also managed to install the Music Edition firmware on it. It was the first phone that I refurbished. Indeed, the joystick was it's weak spot but it started to wable after 2 years of using it daily and ironically not for calls, just apps and games :D. I used to play Worms in multiplayer trough bluetooth with my calssmates. I have it in my showcase now and every time I look at it, it reminds me of my good old days. I also did a stress test on another N73 like trowing it from different higts ( the higher one being from a bridge) and also drove ober it with my car. The only thing that broke was the display (not shattered, just no image) which I changed and it still works. Amazingly even the joystick works fine lol.

That keyboard was so easy to type. You have no idea how fast N73 holders can type. That thing lasted a long time with me. It was my mp3 player too. I made so many good memories with this thing. I wish phone are that light and compact these days to carry around.

Oh I loved this one. I went to buy this near the end of it's production run as I had just lost my 6600. Wanted the Black one (Music Edition) with the included boom headset, but that wasn't available. Got one in chocolate brown, without the boom headset. The speaker quality wasn't bad though, though not too loud as you mentioned. The bundled earbuds set was really good though. And it came in two parts, the lower one having a 3.5mm jack so you could use your own better quality headphones if needed. Had loads of fun downloading jar game files like splinter cell, asphalt etc. The camera was brilliant and one of the best at the time in ideal lighting conditions. Indeed, some of my pictures turned out at par with the digital cameras of the time. Unfortunately it got pickpocketed on a state run bus. I really miss this device and wish I still had it! Thanks for refreshing the memories Abdullah! You rock!

@@digital945 Yes, they were sure painful if worn for long. The design was not optimized. But the bass was really good on it. And the 3.5 mm slot on the bundled earphones have the option to connect to a speaker via aux.

Still got mine. Had the silver purple but bought a music front cover for it. The navi menu was there but if you long press it it goies to the player anyway. The music edition just has that for the player. Audio used a pronged connector but i bought a mefia control adapter for it and later a straight adapter for my 3,5mm headphones

​@@Ragnarok20854It's a cool music player but no mmc meant you had to delete files constantly. No youtube, so I use various Wap sites to download 3gp videos and music. Tubidy and Vuclip were the sh*t back then. N73's screen was a huge step up. Plus since it's running with symbian, I can play more video format aside from 3gp.

I was so excited for these phonese back then. the s40 nokia i owned back then would crash java games occasionally, and there was never a problem like this on nokia and sony ericsson phones. plus, s60 can run both java and symbian games and apps and also install game engine. that was so good.'

The joy stick button kept coming off and that meant a new circuit board with joy stick because the button wasn't sold separately. Not expensive but annoying. No problems with the button on its predecessor, the N70.

You missed the main problem. It had extremely low RAM for S60v3. I owned N72, N73, 5800, C6, N8 - and N73 was the only one with RAM issue when doing multitasking. From what I remember, it had same or similar (64MB) ram as N72, which was fine for N72 as it was S60v2, but not sufficient to run S60v3 of N73.

I have fond memories of my N73 music edition... Also took some great pics with it's camera... Spent many hours browsing on Opera Mobile over a slow 2G EDGE connection, which later was upgraded to 3G..those were some days!
