First of all, compliments for the extensive review. I noticed though that the topvent was closed thoughout the whole test ride, that would explain the “poor” ventilation. Any chance on a repeat test as I am thinking of buying this helmet? Thanks

just bought this helmet to replace a helmet damaged LS2 in a crash. Ventilation is bad when I'm wearing it while sitting and watching television but the pinlock helps with it fogging up. I've worn it while running through the house and I do feel some air with vent open. I know I look cool! This is what I do since my bike and I are on the mend. Maybe when the bike gets fixed I'll write a review and try it with the vent open at 60mph. :D

Frankly Ive found myself a bit hesitant to base my future purchase on these reviews as I can see you measured the temperature with the closed vent. Some would go as far as saying that is a basic thing to do when subjecting a motorcycle helmet to the test of ventilation. Granted, can happen, especially considering you are testing test a lots of helmets d2d but unfortunately this does not stop here, you also brought this result to your other video: best modular helmets of 2020 where you rate Nolan as the worst option from the pack, largely due to ventilation problem. Since I assume you brought that result from this video / test . I am really surprised that you did not suspect something is off when the temp inside the lid was different by almost 11 degrees. Please have a decency and retest and re upload the best modular helmets video with the correct measurements of Nolan 100-5.

Hey there! Thanks for bringing that to our attention. We did notice that there was a problem with the road test, which is why we have retested it as the Nolan N100 5 Plus. Though this is a newer model of the helmet, there were mainly only minor additions to the liner so the two still perform the same. Thanks for your review. Your posting showed up on my recommendations just minutes after I purchased the 100-5 from Nolan. I've had the 104 for about 5 years. Having an articulating helmet helps me put on and take off easier. I have a large sized head. So, trying to find a helmet to fit me, I had to go with Nolan's xxxl size. So, to get a new one, I had to continue with Nolan. I've tried others, just too small. Even, one other manufacturer's 4x was too tight. I hope the plastic clips that open the chin hold up better with the 100. My 104 clips broke a few years ago and Nolan couldn't do anything to fix it. The color silvered one won't be in stock for at least 8-10 weeks, so I bought the white one.

Our pleasure, and thanks for sharing your experience with your helmet! The issue with the clips is a shame, but the N 100-5 does have a robust mechanism with some added features that make it very user friendly in the long run. Besides the sizing, how did you find the Nolan helmet out on the road?

@@Championhelmets I've put many miles on wearing the 104. I've only had to buy one extra visor in all those years. Sounds have never been an issue with me. Mostly because I ride behind a fairing(BMWK1200LT). I've worn it in 32°F to 100°+ sun, rain, storms. I've also used it to get autographs from musicians( Ricky Skaggs, Crowder, 4 King & Country, and Randy Stonehill). So, the new 100-5, I'll be looking forward to it's use(and future autographs when concerts start back up after this Covid stuff).

Can I install my Cardo Packtalk Black on N100-5? With the clip or with the provided sticker? Where to position the device? Do you have an installation video or photo for Cardo on N100-5? Thanks

While it should be possible to install the Packtalk Black on the N100-5, the thicker helmet lip would likely mean you would have to use the adhesive mount. If using the adhesive mount, you have a lot more freedom in positioning of the device, though it is best to make sure the wires are long enough to reach everything inside the helmet. So, it may be helpful to install the speakers and microphone, and then see where the adhesive mount would fit best. The main thing to keep in mind is that the speaker pockets of the N100-5 are a smaller diameter than the Packtalk Black, so they may be a bit more raised after installation. Unfortunately, we don't currently have a video showing the installation on the N100-5, but we have gone over the adhesive mounting process on similar helmets including the Shoei Neotec 2 here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKO4aWShgtaCpMU Thanks for the question! In Sharp testing the Shoei had a 30% hinge failure rate while the Nolan had 0%. That's a little sad and indicates comfort is prioritized over safety. Though I just got the n100-5 plus version and out of the box it is tsuper. comfortable. we'll see how it is on the road.

A not black helmet helps a lot with the lower temperatures.

Yes, that is something that we have considered but because we are mainly measuring the ventilation, by having the sensor positioned right on the ventilation channels, it doesn't really affect our test. We try to show how much air is blown into the helmet with the ventilation and how strong the airflow is. Do you have the Nolan?

I have the N90, first generation. It is a good helmet considering I've spent about 150-160 euro on it. I'm waiting to break down or to find a really good offer to upgrade to the N100-5, but I don't ride that much recently and it's still enough for me.

How would this compare with the HJC RPHA 90? That one and the N 100-5 are my 2 choices.

We were as surprised as you when we had a chance to go over the results. When manufacturers change certain aspects of a helmet, they don't always share all the changes they may have made between models. Nonetheless, these were the measurements we got from the test, so this was the data that we presented

@@lowspeed2000 Unfortunately, neither has the comms system included, though both are prepared for the N-Com B901 and B601 series. Other than this, the main difference that we are aware of at the moment is that the Plus has a slightly different inner liner that is meant to be more advanced

A terrible review if you are not going to test the helmet with the vents open. The chin bar vent and top vent is closed and that is why it was hot. Any helmet whether it is Nolan, HJC or even Shoei will be hot with their vents closed. You are misleading consumers by keeping this review online and not doing Nolan any justice by not redoing the test. I can tell you I will not follow your reviews any more if this is how your test product.
