As I watch and listen,, GOD has been very good to Lee Trevino. 84 years on the planet have been good to him. He looks fantastic doesn't he.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Trevino back in the 70's at a resort course in southern Florida. I was the teaching assistant there, and Lee would come to our driving range to practice for the Inverrary (I think). I had never seen anyone practice so effectively as Lee Trevino. He would invite me to sit in the golf cart while he hit balls, Herman was with him, and he would tell me stories about playing the tour , the US Open, and perfecting his game. He would hit a full shag bag of 9 irons, then a full shag bag of 8 irons, then 7 irons...etc..etc.. I was lucky enough to play a few rounds with him, and can say in all honesty that he is one of the most genuinely friendly supportive pros, that I had ever met.. I always look back at those days with such happy memories.. He is such a credit to the game we all love. (I still remember those Faultless golf balls!!)

Lee came to our club in Montebello, California, back in the 70's. He brought with him, actor James Garner, Dodgers 2nd baseman Maury Willis, singer Johnny Mathis, and a gentelman that was a trickshot artist. And he put on one hell of a show. He played golf and we followed him for about 16 holes, he had to leave early to catch a flight. All of his shots were spot on, and so were his jokes. I believe the name of his friend from El Paso, who worked at the club was Joe, if my memory is correct. Thank you, Mr Super Mex, you made our day that day.

Lee Trevino is absolutely, hands down, my favorite golfer to watch all time. Fuzzy Zoeller comes in a close second. I say this not because of their talent or how many tournaments they won, but because of their "devil may care" attituded when playing golf. Mr. Trevino always entertained the crowd whether he was playing poorly, or at the top of his game. I believe Fuzzy was the same way. If Lee or Fuzzy hit a terrible golf shot, you almost always saw them shrug and then say something to make the crowd laugh and enjoy the play. God bless Lee Trevino, my very favorite golfer to watch on TV, all time!

Fuzzy and Lee were playing The Skins Game in 1987 with Nicklaus and Palmer. Jack hit his tee shot and Lee was urging it to stay left to keep it in the fairway. Fuzzy then chimed in, "Never trust a Mexican pulling for your golf ball." Did Lee go out and try to get Fuzzy banned and ostracized like Tiger did at The Masters? No. Lee chuckled knowing Fuzzy didn't have a racist bone in his body.

This interview might just be the most gripping one ever. I had to go somewhere halfway through, and I tried, I really tried to leave, intending to finish the interview later, but each story kept dragging me back in. In the end, I gave in and watched till the end. My wife's not a golfer so she couldn't understand. I took the heat. Terrific interview. Fascinating person. Great golfer, but a fascinating person.

A few months back ,well now it’s half a year I played a round and had dinner at the club house, and I over heard a croup of young men talking about how they thought Lee Trevino’s stories had to be made up. Well when I was done I got up,turned to them and said, ( No The Stories He Tells Are True) because in any event Lee is asked about certain aspects of his career,the answers he replies with are always the same. And if you want proof,all you have to do is watch the videos. They didn’t have a reply! What a fantastic interview. LEE TREVINO is a great example of how hard work and commitment can lead to success.

In 1971 Lee came to Robinson, Illinois pop: about 7,000 to play in the $100,000 Robinson Open. He had made a commitment to come before he won the Us, British, and Canadian Opens that year. He didn't have to, but he honored his word. That, is a great person!

Lee Trevino is why I love golf. He was my dad’s favorite player and I saw him at the 1971 Canadian Open in the Montreal area which he won that year. That was my 1st ever PGA tourney and I never looked back, been playing since then, thanks to my dad to bring me there and Mr Trevino to show me the intricacies of that fascinating game. Great job Laying up to get this legend on your podcast.

He is the best. Saw him in person win the PGA at Tanglewood and then again in Hartford. He was an amazing shot maker and a great entertainer. Talk about charisma, credibility, style, and so interesting. Makes the robots playing today look silly. God bless this guy.

I saw him in person and had a MUCH different experience in Nashville at a senior tour event.. Shunned fans and cursed volunteers..totally self absorbed. Growing up in Texas as a poor Mexican gave him a huge chip on his shoulder and a need to be in the spotlight. He has mellowed a little bit but not much. I was a fan too but not after watching the real Lee in person.

Fabulous interview!!! True story. I live near Clemmons, NC where Lee won the 74 PGA. My mom drove a courtesy car for the PGA that week. She drove Lee to Tanglewood the morning he won the PGA in 74. Wish you had asked him about the putter he won with. He found it in the woman's house he was renting the week of the tournament. About 2 miles from my house.

I just worked the PNC Championship in Orlando. After the Friday pro Am, I stood a few feet from Trevino and watched him talk to Tiger and Charlie for 30 straight minutes on the driving range. TW and CW listened with great interest the entire time. It was amazing to watch.

Thanks for posting this awesome sit down with him. Lee Trevino is a national treasure. Came from nothing. His will, guts, determination and lifelong passion for golf is amazing. I can listen to him for hours. In the mid-late 90's (either 97 or 98) i went to a Sr. PGA tournament in Long Island, NY with my then 10 or 11 year old son. Standing around the chipping/putting green with a few dozen people i said to Lee, "hey Lee is that a lob wedge you're using ?" he turned to me and said "Nah its a 56 sand wedge, I'm not good enough to play a 60" while opening up the 56 showing everyone, " i just open it up like this" got a chuckle out of me and the crowd. Followed him for 9 holes until my son got tired of walking the hilly course. He's a magician with a club. he was cutting and drawing the ball all over the course.

My dad was the executive chef for one of the best country clubs. And Lee loved my dad. When he’d come to country clubs to play the tournaments. I would visit my dad when he had about 1000 people to feed in a day, and Trevino would come to the kitchen to hug him and he’d called me junior, and give me advice about golf every year he’d come to play a tournament in the champions tour. He’d see my dad since the late 70s

Awesome show!! I really enjoyed listening to Lee Trevino! He sure is a treasure. I followed him around on some of the Senior Tour tournaments in Austin. He is a blast to follow. Next time you get a chance to talk to him I have a story that you would love to hear. Ask him about the story when he was mowing the lawn and a lady came by in a Cadillac and wanted to hire him to mow her yard. She asked him what he charged.......... you will be rolling in the floor by the time he finishes!!!!

Lee is like that Star Trek episode (Trekkie fans)...where there's a machine that will take you back to any place in the history of the world. He remembers every detail, every name of everything. Lee will take you to the history of virtually any Major during his lifetime. He's just a treat, a joy, and still doing it like he was a kid with his verbal skills.

I played Old Prestwick in 2015, we were behind Trevino and Bob Charles - the rain and wind were unbelievable (it was July). Bags and trolleys falling over constantly. Lee and Bob played all 18 holes showing a true love for the game - no competition just Golf on the links.

My uncle saw Trevino play here in Australia in 1973 Chrysler Classic at The Lakes GC …..windy course with water everywhere. My uncle said he’d never seen such beautiful shotmaking before or since. He shot -15 and won easy
