With the shoulder position, is that more personal preference than science? On the kickflip tutorial the shoulders are parallel to the board but on the pop shovit they are slanted same with varial flips. Whenever I slant my shoulders, my legs seem to turn slightly in the air and I land the shovits crooked. Do I just have to be more conscious of what my feet are doing or should my shoulder position just be what works for me? Thanks

Thanks for your question! Although there is a slight difference in each person, shoulder position is little more science than personal preference. Shoulder position for Varial kikflip is usually middle of kickflip and pop shove-it. You can turn your shoulder around and find where you feel more comfortable. You should still focus on what your feet are doing. It may tough to focus on both things at first but you will gradually get it if you keep practicing. Thanks!
