Nomad Cosmetics Verona palette - 2 looks and Review 🤔

It's a very pretty palette. My only "issue" on the pink side would be the 2 very similar matte reds and a missing dark shade. The 2 mid tone pinks are cool and coral warm toned. At least on me they won't look alike and I wouldn't pair them together either as it defeats having a cool and warm option imo. Instead of the one red they could have added a dark cool true purple? Maybe also make the dark red even deeper... So we'd have 2 deep options.

Couldn't agree more about Nomad shimmers. I ordered 3 palettes after watching so many good reviews and was kinda surprised when I started working with them. They are really hardly pressed and some of them are not even that great on the lid at the end of the day. You're the first person to mention it, thank you! On the other hand, the quality differs from palette to palette in my case, so maybe they are just inconsistent with formula. Mattes and color stories are great though.

I bought 4 nomad palettes over the holidays because of these KZbinrs recommendations and the quality is just not there with the mattes or shimmers it's obvious that they are being paid which is why they go easy on the brand

These looks are beautiful, and I appreciate your candor - Nomad is one of my absolute favorite brands but I think I can wait on this one even though it's objectively stunning. I'd only be interested in the Death side, and I learned my lesson with Haunted Europe: don't buy a huge palette if you only like half. America's Parks looks the best on me, Whistler is the most versatile, but I think Tokyo is my favorite just because I get so much use out of those matte pastels, and it's so cute! I know Nomad tends to include some neutrals in most of their palettes, but I'd love to see them come out with dedicated warm and cool nine-pans. I think they could do a great warm "Christmas in LA" and cool "New Years, New York" duo around the holidays. Call me, Nomad!

@@fairydust_and_glitter eeeh I think it’s the weakest of their palettes that I have. It’s the only one I have the shimmer issue mentioned in the video here, and the mattes are really hard-pressed and kind of obnoxious to work with, too. Nothing like the almost buttery smooth shades in the “smaller” palettes, like Whistler or Iceland.

I’m definitely drawn to the bluish side those reds honestly are a bit to similar and pinky reds don’t look good on me , but darn those shimmers are beautiful especially that main one you used in the second look. I can understand how hard it is to create colour stories these days because everything has already been done, personally I’m always drawn to more of a grunge colour story especially if there’s greens involved oh how I love me green eyeshadow.

I feel the exact same way about nomad shimmers. They're pretty, but hard pressed & need more work than my preferred formula for shimmers. I love how this palette looks, that cool toned side is killing me! Beautiful looks Annette!

The only palette I tried from them was Iceland and I felt the shimmers were too soft and I’d get a ton of fallout but never much impact from them…more soft, shimmer and I like more metallic. I remember..it was probably quite a few palettes ago by now…I saw them say to someone in a comment on IG that they were trying a new shimmer formula that was going to be more shimmery and metallic. I considered getting it to try but didn’t and then heard some saying they felt they were more hard pressed. So it seems maybe they changed it and now they’re more hard pressed 🤷‍♀️

I totally agree with you! I’ve always felt like the odd one out with Nomad shadows- truly I love their color stories & what they’re all about. It makes me sad because I actually really struggle getting their shadows to look like they do in the palette on my eyes. I felt that way too! Everyone raved about Iceland so I got it but for me the shimmers were like so soft I got tons of fallout and no impact - sparkly, but not really shiny or metallic and it just wasn’t worth the effort I had to put in so I never tried anymore of their palettes. I considered it tons of times cuz I love their color stories but just didn’t want to fork over the money for something I’d struggle with and not enjoy the end result as much as the effort I had to put it. I'm so excited to pick this one up!!! I just cannot wait! The Odens Eye Christmas palettes were my favorite of 2022 but I think this will give them a run for their money LOL! As of right now my favorite Nomad palette is Fire and Ice and Haunted Europe, as they are totally different I couldn't choose a favorite. Sentimental wise, my favorite is the Berlin palette. It was the palette that introduced me to Nomad and also to grungy like looks. I feel like the Verona palette may take the #1 spot though, I'll have to use it first though. But the color story... stunning! I love the looks you created and will try to recreate the second one especially. So many great ideas from you, BattyBean, Angelica, and Lady Katy!! I cannot wait for this palette. I haven't been this excited since Odens Christmas and Klarity Croc!!! Great video!!

I’ve never owned a Nomad palette because they don’t have Australian stockists so I can’t speak on the quality at all. However a good shimmer formula is very important to me so I get your frustration with the shimmers being difficult to pick up but OH MY do they look freaking gorgeous on your eyes. If I didn’t know I’d think they’re the creamiest sparkliest shimmers on the market. Both looks! The shimmers are so sparkly and stunning! 😮

I got very excited seeing the previews. I absolutely love the packaging and the artwork. Some brands packaging and art work. The effort they put into the outside make it worth buying half the time. This is the third video I have watched. To help convince me I don't need it. The blue side is definitely the more appealing and then hearing you say that too I had this small fantasy of them splitting it and releasing the side separately. A fantasy. I feel the same about all the pinks , they just look so similar plus I dont really use pinks that often and i think this is the reason I probably wont be picking this up. When I think about it, there are actually very similar pink/coral shades in the Monteverde palette, Im curious how much different they are, I feel especially with reds and pinks if you put them on the eye, you can't really see the difference as good as with other colours. I really like the right side but overall its just too many pinks for my liking and I don't like to have too many unused shades in my palettes. And yes, some of the nomad shimmers in my other palettes are exactly like that, I haven't even realized because I love the matte formula so much :)

I do agree with your thoughts on this palette. I do see that the red side has shades that appear to be very close in color and doesn’t look unique at all. This side of the palette reminds me so much of Glamlite’s Cherry Icee palette. I do however love the death color story and the second look that you created with it. The collector in me was very tempted to buy it based upon the theme and packaging mostly.🎭🎭

I'm really surprised that a brand can do matte so well and struggle some with shimmers. Years ago it was the other way around. Brands struggled to get mattes pigmented when it involved colour.

I received it in PR and did a swatch video. Then realized 12 of the shades are pressed pigments and my lids don't tolerate pressed pigments. I did a video with the 6 shades I could use. And, the look I created was very similar to one I did with Fetes de Provence. I agree with most of the comments that the red side is too similar. I think it would've been better if the reds weren't so close in tone. Maybe have a burgundy red and a deep purple to give versatility on that side.

Great review and I agree with you about the pink/red side and I also think that the shimmers could be more special...there was a missed opportunity to make a truly unique palette...the colorstory just doesn't live up to the exciting packaging! (A classic thing that we see in most palettes!😭)

You’re 💯 correct about the red side being repetitive. At least three of the reds are the same and too close to be in the same palette. Definitely could’ve used 3 different colors on the red side.

Favorite Nomad palettes are Whistler’s Snow Lodge, Santa’s Village, Tokyo, Paradise Islands, and Orient Express. Boy, Haunted Europe is used often, too! I limit myself to bringing three when I am traveling! I love the way this palette is put together, inside and out. It’ll transition well from Winter to Spring and be such beautiful art for the vanity. I like that you tried that shade you weren’t so sure about. I’ve been doing that, too. No matter what I do I get tons of fallout. I have to do my eyes first and still get fallout just doing my lower lash line and inner corner. I even get fallout when I spray my shimmers.

And I wonder if the wonky shimmers in the last couple palettes are a supply or manufacturer issue because of covid? For applying hard to pick up shimmers, I like to use good old fashioned sponge tip applicators, they work very similar to using my fingers

Wow! That’s an awful lot of similar reds! A little disappointing. I hate it when brands do that, don’t try to sell me, “They’re not the same, or they’re different undertones, as a justification for 6 pans of my money that shld e been 3! I definitely see why they didn’t sell these as two separate mini palettes! The red one wld have been a loss. I love the colors of the cool toned side, but I don’t know if it’s worth buying that many similar reds to get it.

From other videos, I find the middle two pinks look the most alike. I really wish they replaced one of them with a lavender, but I guess they were trying to avoid similarities with the Provence palette.

That’s my issue with monochrome palettes in general. I had a short lived phase of getting a few only to learn ESPECIALLY when there’s only 9 shades && im seeing repeats- it’s annoying and why I’m not typically drawn to large palettes. The two dark red shimmers are WAY too similar even with one having different color sparkles && the mid tone reds will look identical on the eyes. I wish that side had as much variation as the cool toned side && it would’ve been far more appealing.

i love the colours on the cool side!! the warm side is just beauty bay's berries and not worth the struggle with the shimmers since BB works just fine for me. Will pass on this since only 50% of it is what i am eyeing and i wish i could get that side on it's own. my favs are haunted europe, cloud forest, snow lodge and hudson valley!!

I have a question for you, I also have hooded eyes and have a problem finding really good eye primer that lasts all day, so far, smashbox and Anastasia of Beverly hills is the best, but Anastasia seems to dry out my lids, do you have any suggestions for some other primers?

Haha, we have the same makeup face!! When I was a teenager, my best friend constantly made fun of me because she said I pushed my lips out when doing my makeup. This was in the late 90s/early 2000's, so I was using, like, a CoverGirl compact mirror. I couldn't see my lips while I spent 20 minutes a day tweezing my brows; it was my concentration face, y'know? I got really weird about it, so I began doing the opposite: clamping my lips together until they disappear. Now that I'm 40, I'm like, "you gotta stop that, you look old!" but I can't. I'm either pooching my skinny little lips out, or sucking them back into my face. There's no happy medium. I guess I'm seeing that same look of, "I'm trying to concentrate and forget that someone is watching me and being the peanut gallery, but I can't help but be painfully aware of what my face is doing." mirrored by you. Kind of like how, when you're wearing headphones in public, you're hyper-aware of how loud your breathing is? Being a beauty influencer is probably something like that, but magnified by 1000000. Except you're on a ton of edibles, on a crowded bus, having a panic attack while listening to music, and trying not to breathe.

I thought the palette was interesting when I saw it. I am not a fan of the size of this palette. I agree with your comments about the red side. I think it could definitely have a matte lemon and lilac to add some variation to the colour story to make it more interesting. Loved this look and the second colour story in the palette!

I love the second look so much. It is different and stunning shimmers. When layering it is just perfect. The red side has way too many similar shades yet enough for beautiful looks. I recall when ABH Modern Ren palette you could not find a single red or yellow. Now red is in every palette but that many? It looks weird seeing the different beautiful colours on the other side. I get it, it is Romeo and Juliette inspired still. Pinks, corals, peach shades would of been better.

I have never bought a Nomad palette. Can you tell me - the way you describe the shimmers reminds me of Juvias Place shimmers (and I really dislike the JP shimmers*) - are Nomad shimmers like the Juvias Place ones? Or are they better?? I totally agree that the Love color story is too repetitive. They needed at least one different color to break up all that red and pink, two would be best. I love Nomad and have several of their palettes, but this one isn't for me even though I do love the Muerte side.

I’m not a fan of nomad quality. They have great customer service and beautiful theming, but I don’t love the mattes. I’ve been able to get pretty looks, but it takes too long to get the desired result.
