I'm a dual citizen (Canadian and Serbian). I find in reality convenient when traveling. 95% of the globe is unlocked for me (Visa free access to most of the countries). I live in Serbia which is not so strict with taxes and Canada considers me as a non tax resident so when it comes to taxes I'm doing really good. And yet when I need something from Canada the Embassy welcomes me with open arms and genuinely helps me with all the paperwork on my new business ventures. In my personal opinion this is maybe even one of the best combinations of citizenships.

My dad is Canadian and my mom is American, I was born in the US. I got Canadian citizenship handed down to me by my dad and it has helped me in so many ways. College here in the US is insanely expensive so I got my Canadian Passport as well as my US passport. I am going to Canada for college because it is super cheap compared to the US. It has helped me get back and forth to see my family in Canada as well, having 2 passports/citizenships is a very good idea. I haven't exactly used my citizenship for much more than college yet but like you said it is a form of insurance. If anything happens here I can always leave and move back to the US or vice versa.

Moving from country to country for me is more about learning about the human being. IMo our major differences lie in the education level. I.e. If your parents have PhDs or you start reading when you are very young, you will (normally) understand others better and improve your empathy. Tolerance is a key factor when living a different culture. In my case, I greatly enjoy when I understand the way of seeing life from the locals. At the end, our families are nomads at some point. Remember that it's important to give time to your soul and your family. Blessings.

In my country that isn't easy to do. As you can you only acquire the citizenship through your parents. If both parents had already naturalized in the US then the kid is no longer eligible for the citizen. Dual citizenship is also only allowed to natural born citizens of my country which means foreigners cannot become dual here. Also foreigners'baby born here do not get the citizenship by birth. They must have at least 1 parent that is a citizen or else they're treated as foreigner or a foundling. There are a lot of American-born kids that cannot get my country's citizenship due to the incompetence of their parents. They're treated as a foreigner.

BlockedForPrivacy I don't know how you make your money but if you're Canadian citizen you could actually sell online to American customers and you only get tax on your worldwide income which is a maximum of 20% which is much less than the over 53% of your pay as a Canadian citizen. If you are an American citizen you might as well just sell to as many people in Canada, and obviously the rest of the world as well if possible, and there you would only pay taxes based on your worldwide income to a maximum of 20% which is less than the 40% + state income tax. Well at least that's what I plan on doing

Dual citizen is very advantageous for ease of travel especially if one the passports has very limited visa free opportunities. I am dual Philippine/Canadian. While my Philippine passport is pretty good in Asia and some South American countries like Brazil, my Canadian passport is good among Western countries and Japan. The only negative I see is I have to renew two passports instead of just one. So in essence I need to pay twice but other than that there is no disadvantage of being a dual passport holder (dual citizen)

It’s still very new to me. I certainly do feel like I know have an identity in Lesotho 🇱🇸. It’s a weird feeling I cannot explain. But it feels good In your videos you talk a lot about having an agnostic passport. And that was a major reason for me to pursue my Lesotho 🇱🇸 citizenship. There are some countries that I would prefer to visit as a Mosotho and not as a South Africa 🇿🇦 Because Lesotho 🇱🇸 is so far out of everyone’s way. And nobody has beef with Lesotho 🇱🇸. So there definitely are countries where I would prefer to to present my more agnostic identity.

I got dual citizenship (USA and Egypt) because in Egypt they can stop me at the airport and stop me from flying over if I didn't serve my time in the military. This is possible because in Egypt they recognize me as an Egyptian Citizen if my father is blood born in Egypt, and I have an Egyptian birth certificate, so now that I have dual citizenship I can then request an Exemption from the military to clear my military status. So first I need dual citizenship, so I can then request an exemption from the military so my military status is cleared, then after all that I can leave the country without them stopping me.

I'm French : - With French citizenship, you can vote in French elections (presidential, parliament with the national assembly and its deputies, referendums), with brexit, being British means that you are no longer a European citizen. France only allows European citizens to vote in European and municipal elections on its soil, but only in these elections, for French national elections, they cannot. If you are not a European citizen, you cannot vote in any election in France. In fact, to sum up, to vote in French elections, you have to be a French citizen, because to vote, you have to show your French identity card or your French passport in the polling station where you are going to vote. - With the French passport, you have one of the most powerful passports in the world that allows you to have many countries around the world without a visa. - With French citizenship, you will no longer have to renew your residence papers at the prefecture and suffer all the constraints that this entails. You will be fully a French citizen like me, with all the rights and duties that are attached to it. And I would like to point out that France recognises dual citizenship, i.e. you will still be British, you will just have an extra passport and an extra nationality. France does not require foreigners who come to France to give up their previous nationality if they wish to become French.

So, I have a pathway to EU citizenship through Spain, since I am an American citizen but I have a Peruvian Passport through a naturalization birth certificate there (Peru was a colony of Spain.) I don’t have to renounce any citizenship as far as I know. I just got an offer to teach English abroad in Spain and I am hoping to move there next month, my visa is expected to be ready by then. My question is…do you think at my age ( 42) am I too old to do this? Are there any age obstacles or age discrimination in Spain or most of Western Europe that significantly exists?

Andrew, First, love your channel and the wealth of information you share (Discovered you in late 2018). I am a dual citizen in the USA by birth and in El Salvador by decent. Currently I’m in the process for my Central American passport. My question is something that seldom gets covered and/or clearly explained. Perhaps you already have covered this an can point me in the right direction if not... How do you properly travel with your two passports? Where and how to present to maximize your benefit of dual citizenship (obviously one benefit would be entering as a citizen and not as foreigner)? What not to do so you don’t get flagged or draw unnecessary attention to yourself? One scenario I like to explore is leaving the US with my US passport out the country. Then out of El Salvador or Mexico to Brazil via my Salvadoran passport. Logistically I think it’s strait forward. Customs is on my mind and any repercussions that I might incur if done improperly. My guess is that I would use the same steps if I wanted to visit Russia? Your new Subscriber, Daniel

The thing about dual citizenship is not so much the dual citizenship itself. It is more about 1) does your original country allow it... legally? 2) do you still have to file tax for a country, even when living abroad? 3) does having one said citizenship limit you as far as countries? 4) what is the ability to travel freely with the passport and citizenships you have? 5) does any country tied to a citizenship, tax you on worldwide income? For the most part, outside of certain places in Asia and elsewhere, you can be or become a dual citizen. For me, I can not really do that on my background. I am a US citizen by birth. I could technically get an India citizenship and passport, but there are complications that ensue. India forbids legally dual citizenship. Also the Indian passport is not really great. People of Indian background like me can get an OCI visa... similar to the US Green Card... except it's for India. I have the OCI. If I really wanted any second passport, I would be considering Southern European countries, or Latin America...if not Asia. My wife is a dual Vietnam and US citizen. Vietnam allows it. So, until I really decide to move somewhere like Spain or Mexico, it works to my advantage to remain a US citizen.

I've been thinking lately of becoming a dual citizen with the United States and the United Kingdom. I am from the United States, but my Mother is a citizen of the United Kingdom. The first thing that came to my mind was.. why not? I guess I'm just starting to look into this, if it can be approved, would you suggest to do it or not to do it?

For me, I am a New Zealand citizen, and would like to also become a dual citizen with the United States. My boyfriend lives in America, and I do plan on marrying him, so when that does come about, I will definitely apply to get a dual citizenship for travelling back and forth, plus it is a backup incase the relationship goes south, meaning I can return back to NZ

I've watched a few of your videos and understand your thinking around US tax laws in particular global tax laws and renouncing US citizenship vs finding tax havens. I'm not yet ready to move to a tax haven but I have an opportunity to move to the US as a PR. I'm an Australian citizen so a US green card only gives me a few extra minor benefits with travel - Phillipines is visa free and a few other minor differences. However, it will give me more work opportunities and ability to live in a tax or low tax state i.e Texas, Nevada etc. Of course there are different taxes re income, property etc and I have to weigh those up with regard to choosing where I'll live. I'm a basic wage/salary earner atm with a growing cryptocurrency portfolio. When I do work in Australia, which isn't often lately I pay extortionate tax, the cost of living is increasing phenomenally, I'm wedged out of the property market. So while the basis of your videos is looking outside and offshore the USA can you see any tax benefits for some Westerners in moving to the US? If you haven't already addressed the topic, I'd be interested in learning about tax havens for crypto investors. Thanks for reading. :)

@Jessie Marilyn Thanks for your comment. :) Yes I know about the USA global tax requirements and it's a huge negative about the USA. There are other things which are positive about the USA so I have more thinking to do. I'm a crypto investor so I do need to consider CGTax.

I'm a second generation American (parents came from 🇦🇹&🇵🇱) so I have a claim to jus sanguinis citizenship... technically I'm supposed to use a Polish passport when visiting Poland. Haven't really thought much of dual citizenship much but after last January I was skiing in St Anton in the Austrian Alps and noticed that they had seasonal workers from all over the European Union. There was even an Austrian Australian bartender who had Austrian citizenship via jus sanguinis as her mother is an Austrian expat. It had me thinking if I were looking for a change of lifestyle I'd seriously consider working in a Tyrolean ski town or elsewhere in Austria.

"Nomad Dad Weeps For America!" I do as well and I find what is happening in the US as downright heart-breaking. We are not alone. Millions of Americans feel incapable of doing anything to prevent the catastrophe slowly unfolding before us. But where do we go??? So many patriots traveling to one country enmasse to start anew is impossible to organize. It's like herding cats! We all apparently are alone and on our own, to live out our days in a new land and wait to die. Oh my, that sounds downright gloomy. But as conditions deteriorate, I wonder if the world at large will think fondly of America that was., the America we lost. "Where will the world be in 10 or 20 years?"
