Isa my childhood in lautoka back in the 80s - best ever . Back in my day the windows were open , you’d sit in the bus with the wind blowing through your hair . If it rained you’d have to roll down these plastic screens that had clear plastic so you could see out. Bus fare was about 6c from town to MH compound . I miss Fiji so very much

Haha that hasn't changed for most of the buses! This was one of the more modern ones 😅 I think the fare is around $1 now though.

Enjoyed the traveling by bus. Used to love it. You went through field-40, Rifle range. I saw my sister's house, she's not there in more. I used to travel the field forty road daily to my job over thirty years ago. Brought back good and sad memories. Thanks 👍

Isaaaaaaa Lautoka lived there for few years meself from 1999 to 2003. Did not do that at all catching bus to work or to town. Lived in Jasper Williams High School Hostel with students. Just walked to work every work days and nights supervision of studies. Anyways it is Fijis second city the only problem there is Water cuts for hours some residential zones. Meself only rode by bus once when in meself flat Vomo Street Corbett Stree. Rest of the work days just walked because nearby only few minutes reached school again.

I was there back in1998, and will come again next year. I remember the bus ride from Suva to Nadi International Airport. They showed the American movie "speed" onboard the bus starring Sandra Bullock. To all of you who know that movie. Bro, the explosive the guy had attached underneath the bus and she had to keep the speed of the bus above 50 mph, othewise it would have been blown up hahaha.

Hiyaaa!! Yes we did, we had to go to the Vodafone shop to do it (phone companies seem to run everything in Fiji). You can also use cash if you ask the driver before getting on (it seems like a lot of locals use cash and the driver just keeps the money, kinda like a tip), we just showed the coins and gave the driver a look and he nodded back at us, a few of them might be strict and say no though but it's Fiji, most people are chill! ✌️😌

Nadi is much better Tourist City of Viti Levu. Lautoka too much land issues.

We have lived in Lautoka for 6 months now and haven't had any problems! Everyone is very happy to see us and say hello and invite us into their homes for a drink or food :) We heard of a few of the Japanese students here got their phones stolen recently, but this stuff happens very rarely and things are hard for people atm as lots of people worked in the tourism industry and lost their jobs. On the whole though I would say it's a safe place, there is always lots of people outand about and people look out for each other!

I don't like Lautoka at all. Meself from Suva Central Division Nasinu Division since 70s. Look around you here no villages anymore all city people residential. There many villages nearby they city too much land issues since ALTA time 2000 coup
